Deadly Route 57 accident claims young Rittman man
State Route 57 near Orrville claimed Victor Brady 19 of 159 North Seneca Street Rittman in a head on collision while two cars battled for the wrong side of the road. The crash raised Wayne County 1972 fatalities to 16 as investigators continued the probe. Brady, born April 25 1953, was a life resident of Rittman and attended Rittman High School. Funeral services were held at St Michaels Lutheran Marshallville with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery Smithville.

Junior Paper Drive for Prom Fund at Rittman High
The Junior Class will hold a paper drive on July 29 to raise money for next year's Prom. Pickup runs from 9 30 a m until all papers are collected with a truck in the high school lot. Papers may be left curbside or brought to the truck. contact Stef Zivick or Sue Chorba for details.

City Council weighs paving bid and front foot cost inquiry
Rittman council discussed a $314 35 bid from Snyder Brothers Paving for Home Crismore Douglas Drive and Grandview Blvd paving and ordered the city manager to report the cost per front foot. The figure, about ten percent below engineers estimates, was not disclosed at the meeting. The city manager was on vacation. Two ordinances favored the Fire Department and a police radio upgrade passed under emergency rules. Additional ordinances funded the Overlook water line and North Main Street bridge project. Senior Citizens’ Trip noted.
