Trouble At The Quarry Near Doylestown

Reported incidents at Rogues Hollow quarry near Doylestown drew caution over recent lawless activity. A 26 year old Ronald Harmon was slashed in a gang fight involving about 50 at the quarry. Six youths in a brown Pontiac followed four Rittman youths and robbed Virgil Pittman of over $60 before releasing them. Authorities say rumors of further fighting are unfounded and patrols continue by Wayne County Sheriff and Doylestown police.

Patrolman Job Is Open in City Civil Service

Deadline for applications is Friday July 21 at 5 p.m. Applications accepted by City Clerk. Open to ages 21 to 35 with height 5 feet 9 inches and weight 175 pounds minimum. Rittman Board Pushes Modified School Plan for All Grades

At a 15-person meeting, Superintendent W H Hauenstein outlined a plan to upgrade the entire kindergarten through grade 12 system. The proposal, tied to North Central accreditation, would add classrooms and expand high school facilities including labs, industrial arts, home economics, music, art, and library spaces. Local Officials See Election Activity in Rittman

Incumbents and hopefuls line up as eight local terms end this year in Rittman with filing deadlines looming. Mayor Ashton Hall has filed for re election while two councilmen William Forrer and William Holt say they will not run. Ed Musser is undecided. Rittman’s Long-Serving Citizen Shoemaker Dies at 106

Camil Wald, born in Alsace Lorraine and a veteran of the German army, dies at 106 in Rittman Ohio. A shoemaker turned farmer, he voted in every election since 1895 and remained active in life, golf, and television. Survived by his son Ernest and a large extended family, his funeral was held at St. Ann Church.

Kroger Remodels Store to Expand Product Space
