A specialist explains that failures in canning are often due to old leaky rubbers. Do not reuse aged seals and test new ones. If a rubber does not return to size after stretching, discard it. A quality rubber resists cracking when folded.
A large structure owned by George Olt on Dharlestown Road near Wadsworth burned last Friday evening. Farming equipment lumber linoleum and part of a truck were destroyed. Some oil and gasoline were removed before the blaze spread. Wade Worth fire department arrived too late to save other buildings. Origin of the fire is unknown.

The Citizens Savings and Loan Company of Rittman Ohio reports its financial condition as of June 30 1923 with assets including cash on hand loans on mortgage securities furniture and fixtures notes for memberships and other items. Liabilities include stock and dividends deposits and reserves plus unpaid interest and accounts payable. The secretary W W Bodager swore the statements are true and the auditing committee certified the figures.
Marie Prices Daby, a 14 year old companion of John Leonard Whitfield, gave birth to a stillborn baby boy during a flight from the Inn to Fort Wayne hospital. Whitfield, held in county jail for Patrolman Dennis Kiffin’s murder, reportedly reacted with indifference. Hospital records say the mother entered under an assumed name Wooster Iacord.
Three R V Fredrick Ford garage employees toured Ford’s Highland Park River Rouge and Lincoln plants. They observed 74 000 workers at Highland Park producing 68 000 cars daily, 22 000 at River Rouge making 700 Fordson tractors daily, and 3 000 at Lincoln producing 35 machines daily. The tour, arranged by Ford officials, illustrates why Ford can pay more and work fewer hours while offering low car prices.
