WPA Plans Move Ahead for Rittman Sewage Plant Upgrade

Plans for a 32 700 addition and improvements to the Rittman sewage disposal plant move toward federal approval after Mayor Charles A. Snyder secured the endorsement of Public Works Director Conwell Po Hug. The project, estimated at 2700 for labor, would repair sedimentation tanks and add a 20 by 40 foot concrete digestion tank adjacent to the existing plant southeast of the Ohio Boxboard plant, with full cost covered by the village service fund. The 1915 plant has deteriorated due to isolation and public indifference, and the upgrade is expected to benefit the village for about 15 years at a stated expense.
