School Board Votes to Continue Two Mill Levy at July Meeting
The board of education adopted a resolution to request continuation of the two mill tax levy at the coming election. The levy, in effect 15 years, is described as a continuation rather than increased taxation for maintaining the school system. Tremco Co. bid 486.50 to repair the gym floor at First Street building. A concrete base with a mastico cover will be used. Regular bills approved except Hershey Rohrer for crushed stones and asphalt oil. A new New School zone sign was ordered for the intersection of N First and Clover streets. Clerk Ritter submitted a tentative budget with several new items.

Petty thieves raid three Rittman homes on Friday night
An epidemic of petty robberies hit Rittman last Friday night as three homes were entered around 11 p m in the same neighborhood. Luther Rollert’s home yielded $20 and two watches while Robert Walters and John Yarman reported lesser losses with Yarman waking and pursuing the intruders before they escaped. Marshal Heffelman said several suspects were questioned but identities remain unknown.
