Pvt Snell to Return Home After North Africa Wounds
Pvt Clifford P Snell of Front Street is expected home this month to finish convalescence from wounds suffered in action in North Africa. He was treated at Valley Forge General Hospital in Phoenixville Pennsylvania, moving around on crutches after receiving 15 wounds to his right leg and several to his left side and shoulder. Mrs Snell has taken a job at Ohio Match Co to support the family while grandparents care for their two year old son William Clifford. She keeps the Purple Heart awarded by the United States government as a memento.

Herbert Holm 48 son of G W Holm formerly of Rittman died at City Hospital Akron last Saturday morning after a heart attack brought on by an acute kidney ailment. Wreck stalls vital war traffic on B and O line at Sterling
A derailment of nine cars on the B&O Advance No. 32 near Sterling halted vital wartime rail movement for over 15 hours. The third coach derailed after hitting a defective frog on the eastbound Erie crossing. All remaining cars left the rails, blocking both B&O main lines and the Erie track for about 900 yards. No crewmen were injured. an unnamed Chicago expressman was hurt. Wreck trains from New Castle, Willard, Akron, and Kent aided. By dusk six cars lay overturned and 100 yards of track remained to be re-laid. Track workers and wrecking crews labored through rain to clear the line as freight and express trains were diverted via alternate routes. News spread slowly, with police guarding the scene and onlookers gathering along the quarter mile of torn track.
