Assisted by the U S Weather Bureau the forecast for the Ohio Valley and Tennessee calls for fair and moderately warm weather until about the 14th. Then a short period of overcast skies with probable showers followed by a much cooler spell toward week’s end.
Rittman and nearby towns paraded, played, and performed on July 4th events despite rain planning challenges. Morning win by Rittman over Wadsworth, afternoon races at the park, balloon ascent at 6:30, Bechtel’s Concert Band, moving pictures, and a grand carnival capped the day. Police kept order and no accidents occurred. First prize for best decorated home went to D W Brenneman, with Prof Longenecker second. September 1st aims to surpass this record.
Charles Hummel of Akron and May Ditzier of Akron wed Saturday at the Hummel home on Fabor Ave Akron. Rev W B Loucks officiated using the same ring from twenty years ago. They spent ten days with the groom’s parents in Doylestown and planned a further visit with the bride’s mother in Marion before returning to their home on Westinet street Akron.
The city council awarded Contract No. 1 for waterworks piping, reservoir, and pump house to A Pierce of this place for about 40000 dollars and Contract No. 2 for pumps and engines to the Bessemer Gas Engine Company of Cleveland for about 4000 dollars. The lowest bid by Adam Schwab Co. was rejected as per policy to favor home labor, and the second lowest bid was accepted.
The Orrville ball club lost 11 to 0 at home on Sunday June 20. Hoover and Harpster worked for Rittman and Beeler Kauffman and F Wenger did for Orrville. Rittman totaled nine hits off Orrville's pitchers while Hoover allowed four. The Orrville team failed to support its pitchers in a sharp showing by Rittman's squad.

Chief Ohio game warden outlines changes for Wayne county sportsmen. New federal and state measures set daily limits on black bass and bluegill, lengthen rabbit season, and modify pheasant hunting with licensing rules. A bounty program pays for certain hawks and game birds, while waterfowl seasons and woodcock limits are adjusted.
The opera house will cancel all Sunday shows and close the house on Sundays. Saturday evenings will feature The Perils of Pauline with The Clutching Hand serial and special Thursday nights with reduced prices and free follow-up week passes for ten tickets. Weekly matinees continue Wednesdays through Saturdays, with no performances on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Sundays.
The marriage of Ethel Pay Kurtz and Raymond D. Snyder occurred Wednesday June 23 at the Kurtz home with Rev. McCybren officiating. Snyder runs a bakery with Rittman Baking Co. The couple planned to move into a new North Fourth street home and live there with friends sending best wishes.
Alexander Ashelman 45 died at his home east of the village on Saturday night June 26 from apoplexy. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Knupp church with Masonic rites and interment in Knupp cemetery. A German native and longtime Mason, he was praised as an exemplary citizen and mourned by many friends.
