More than 200 area youngsters were photographed Thursday at the Recreation Hall for a forthcoming feature in the Rittman Press. The Blosser Studio of Findlay, headed by chief photographer Harold Fisk, conducted the session offering free portraits with no obligation to purchase proofs.

Rittman High School graduates of 1954 plan their second annual class reunion on Sunday July 17 near Canal Fulton. Eastern Star Holds Meets and Installs in Masonic Hall

Following the initiation of two candidates, the Eastern Star announced a meeting for June 30 to initiate more candidates. Rainbow Girls initiated two local candidates on June 29. A Masonic and Eastern Star picnic is planned for July 12 at Wooster Park. St John's Day included a breakfast and a musical program with contributions from Miss Marguerite Hoover and several Bauman family members. Refreshments were served and flowers decorated the dining and chapter areas.

Moose, Morton Salt Play Long Ball In Hot Stove Clash

The Moose beat Morton Salt 20 to 14 after a power surge in the fourth inning with three homers by Jackie Stromack Raymond Winkler and Paul Burnette. Roger Winkler made a leaping catch and Morton Salt rallied from a 12 13 deficit before winning. Doug Mougey pitched for Rotary as they defeated the Freed team 19 to 10.

American Legion Auxiliary Installs New Officers

Mrs. Donald Kime was installed as president by Miss Dora Wright with Sgt at Arms duties filled by Mrs. Roblin Jones. Rittman Explorers Learn Seafaring at Turkey Foot Lake

Nine Explorer Scouts and three adult advisors spent June 25 to 26 at the Turkey Foot Lake sea scout outpost. They rode in diesel launch and sailboats, rowed canoes, and crewed on racing sailboats arranged by C. E. Rhonemus, a Rittman attorney with a lake sailboat. The group swam, observed diving gear, and thanked Mr Rhonemus for the sailing opportunity.

Local Scouts Take Navy Trip

Two Rittman boys Dick Gillman and Bob Banker are honored for scouting. They left July 4 for the Naval Air Station in Akron and traveled to New York and Norfolk Va to join scouts from other areas for a cruise on an aircraft carrier. They will return home late Wednesday evening. Dick is the son of Karl Gillman and Bob the son of Gladys Davis.

Tri State Evangelistic Rally to Be Held at First Church

Two hundred persons from three states are expected for a Tri State Evangelistic Rally at the First Church of Christ on Main Street. The program includes a song service, three sessions, and talks on doctrine and Christ’s role. Florence Harding Council Daughters of America met in Rohrer Hall with seventeen in attendance. They set a picnic supper for July 12 at 6 pm in Rittman Central Park to precede officer installations at 7 30 pm. Wadsworth and Norton Center Councils invited as guests. Coffee rolls and butter provided. bring a covered dish and table service. Members urged to attend in white uniforms for the installation.

Auxiliary Ladies Entertain Vets at Applecreek Hospital

Members of the American Legion Auxiliary entertained 70 veterans in Ward B at Applecreek Hospital with a music program by Rittman High School Melodians led by Miss Armbrust. Mrs Duskey and fellow hostesses served home made pie coffee and nuts. The group plans to resume in September after summer recess.

Former Sterling Resident Dies in Wadsworth

Abel J. Krabill, 80, of Wadsworth and formerly of Sterling, died at his home Friday. He was brought to Sterling from France as a youth by his parents, attended Oberlin College, and later worked as a teacher and banker in Wadsworth. He is survived by his wife.

Union Morton Salt Rittman plant workers accept new contract

Union workers at Morton Salt Rittman plant voted to accept a new one year contract effective July 30 ending strike talk. The deal includes a 5 to 7 cent per hour rise by job class and mirrors provisions found in Morton Salt agreements nationwide. Jackie Wallace was fined ten dollars for reckless driving in Mayor John Baldwin's court. John Riley of Medina Sr. escaped serious injury when his car struck a post at the B and O crossing on South Main Street.

Rittman Pet Parade Promises Pet Display Friday

The Rittman Pet Parade declares Friday at 7 p.m. at the North Main Street Recreation Hall field. Les Brown to Perform at Chippewa Lake Park July 13

Les Brown and his Band of Renown will headline Chippewa Lake Park's ballroom on Wednesday July 13.
