Local plane flips near Rittman injures none
Don Erich his brother Lloyd and Victor Walters were flying a Piper Tri Pacer over Rittman Sunday afternoon when the engine failed at 600 feet. They landed on Sauers farm and the craft flipped in tall grass. The plane was re licensed in Alliance and two compulsory regulations were found non compliant during post crash inspection.

Birthday Observances Highlight Three Arts Club Members
Three Arts club members Mrs Frank Hisem Mrs Charles Steiner and Mrs Don Mrs Mary Schorle observed her 90th birthday on June 12 at a farm near Rittman where she spent most of her life. Her sisters Mrs Joseph Wargler 85 and Mrs Sam Graber 83 of Sterling attended along with other family members. She quilts and tends chores daily and attends Milton Presbyterian church regularly. In Stepfield 3 Arts officers attended a meeting with Mrs Vernon Steiner president of Rittman Mothers Club. The Senior Club Institute for the Middle North district of the Women's Federation of Ohio featured parliamentary rule and club courtesies. Legislative Day for the Middle North district is set for March 14, 1958 in Rittman.

The final Rittman Chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars year ended at the Masonic Hall with Mrs. Donald Baker and Leonard Over in charge. Regular meetings resume September 12 after summer recess. A Legion baseball game saw Dick Armbrust pitch a one hitter through five innings before injuring his ankle. Rittman won 15-3 over Doylestown, Armbrust to miss six weeks. Next games at home include Friday and Sunday matchups against Doylestown and Loudonville.

Speeders fined in Rittman drive cuts accidents

Burial for Mrs Catharine Blough at Oak Grove Mennonite Church
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Oak Grove Mennonite Church for Mrs Catharine Fllen Blough 87 who died Friday after a lingering illness. She was born in Alsace Lorraine to Christian and Catharine Krop and survived by eight daughters, three sons, 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and was preceded by her husband Neri. Grandson Rev George Studer officiated with Rev Virgil Gerry. burial followed in Circle Cemetery.

Three Robbers Bound Over In Grocery Break-In Case
Johnn McNamara James McNamara and Harold McMeans were bound over to the Wayne County Grand Jury after being charged with breaking and entering Trogdon's Grocery on Thursday January 27 and stealing 15. Individual bonds were set at 1000. They were also linked to a Wooster robbery and captured by Wooster police.
