County Auditor Seeks Lower Real Estate Tax in Ohio

County Auditor J C Bartel plans to petition the State Tax Commission for a tax reduction on real estate in Wayne County. He has withheld action until year end to avoid confusion and will argue that drastic relief requires a general reduction in land values and sale prices. The Ohio average tax rate stands at 23.22 while Wayne County averages 17.28.

Boy Scouts Welcome Three New Tenderfoot Members

Deputy Commissioner Frank Gilbert presented tenderfoot badges last Monday night to Howard W. Dickerson Donald P. Helks and William F. Breece making them full Scouts. Eleven people attended including ten aspiring scouts and the visiting Gilbert. Meetings are Mondays at 7 30 pm with plans for a February 15 stamp camp and a March 20 Junior Court of Honor.

Milton Township Farmers Institute Elects New Officers

The Milton Township Farmers Institute met in Sterling high school auditorium with success. New officers were elected: Russell Hart president Ezra Steiner vice president Eather Lance recording secretary Mrs Ethel Johnson corresponding secretary O W Hoff treasurer. A Ladies Garden club was formed with an invitation committee named for future permanent organization. Local speakers attended including Wheller feature of the Tristitula quill and rug display yielded prize winners in applique and pieced quilts.

Four Seniors Receive Perfect Grade Cards at Rittman High

Four Rittman high school seniors and students earned all A report cards for the first 18 weeks. Esther Amnntutz Sylvia Walker Lucille Poete and Frederick Snyder led with perfect A averages while others posted A and B totals. The junior high honored 41 students this period, with 23 girls and 18 boys on the Honor Roll. Injuries Fatal to Henderson Fox After Auto Crash

Henderson Fox, 57, died Saturday night at Minnie and Smith hospital in Wooster after a Thursday automobile accident near Canaan. Survived by wife, five sons, four daughters. funeral held Monday in Seville. Walter Peppard, whose car collided with Fox, moved to his Smithville home and is improving.

Finger Chopped Accident In Woods Injury to a Boy

Three young boys planned a large afternoon outing in the woods when Howard Schwartz slipped beside a creek bank. He reached for a tree to steady himself and his finger was severly cut by a swinging axe from O D Vial chopping a tree. Four clamps were needed to close the gash.

Miss Mary Hilty Injured in Fall
