Boys Defeated by Skedins In High School Basketball

In a crowded gym, the local high school boys fell to Mediuia in a slow paced game. Corby, Wright, Johnson, Snel and Smith starred for the locals while Ritter and Sturtz contributed in the second half. The coach shuffled guards and forwards as the team battled tough defense and slow floor. Medina will visit on Feb 17 for a rematch with two teams, including Medician Hi.

Doylestown Meritary Funeral for Local Legion Member

The Doylestown American Legion post conducted a military funeral for Earl Krieger on Monday. He died of tuberculosis linked to gas effects from World War I and had served overseas with two battalions. he was twenty four and survived by a wife.

Pierce Family Leaves Rittman for Akron Amid Farewell Parties

The Pierce family formerly of Rittman held several farewell gatherings hosted by friends before moving to Akron. Mr. C A Pierce sold his residence to Mr and Mrs Chas RohrER and will reside in an Akron home, with best wishes from the community.

Reverend Platter Receives Substantial Salary Increase

Rev. Platter of the local Presbyterian church was granted a substantial salary raise for the coming year at the church’s annual meeting. He came from Shreve to lead the parish about five years ago, with growth in membership and offers from other salaries. The congregation voted him 2000 dollars plus house rent, praising his leadership and duties as pastor and Sunday school teacher.

The Columbian Quartet at HWyeh School Auditorium

The Columbian Quartet will perform at HWyeh School Auditorium on Tuesday evening February 22. The three blind members and their pianist CJ Viers and Mr Williams will present a program of violin and flute pieces, with proceeds benefiting the HS Athletic Association for bleacher payments.

At the annual meeting of Rittman Savings Bank stockholders held last Wednesday, the board of directors and officers were elected. Officers include President R Vo Fredrick, Vice President JB Gialt, and Secretary J B Gish. Brothers and Sisters Collect Bonus for Deceased Soldiers

Columbus report says parents of soldiers who died in service are not entitled to the bonus if living brothers or sisters exist. The treasurer notes the amendment defines legal heirs as those, excluding parents, which could shift payouts to about forty thousand cases.

Miss Mary Modine of Maine near town, employed by Ohio Salt, was taken ill Monday with sudden appendicitis. Dr Alexander treated her at the factory, an ambulance took her to Wadsworth Hospital where Dr Stepfield performed the operation. She is reported to be recovering as well as could be expected.

Thon Teachers Meeting Elects Officers at High School

The Thon Teachers meeting in the High School Auditorium elected officers for the year with President Mrs Iors Vice President Mr Mason Secretary Mr Heinieur and Treasurer. The Ways and Means Committee plans to supply new books for the library. A program featured solos by Miss Helen DeVore with several accompanists and a talk by Roy Platter on Open Alf Sahaanis. The next meeting is set for Tuesday evening February.

The Prose paper prints without Editor and Manager Jo titekin who suffers an abscess in his head. Staffers and Mr Wickin work to keep the paper going, fearing advertiser or subscriber inconvenience. Wickin’s condition improves and he hopes to return soon.

Newton Baker to Speak at Ohio State University University Day

Newton D. Baker will be the principal speaker for Ohio State University University Day on February 22. The address marked his third post government service appearance. The topic was not announced but may relate to George Washington. The celebration will be less elaborate this year due to the Ohio Legislature being in session. The usual luncheon will be omitted.

The WoC of the county held a victory meeting at the Presbyterian church on Saturday evening to commemorate the defeat of Jon Warry corn and celebrate the birth of their founders.
