Jackson Day Banquet Brings Record Attendance in Wooster

The Jackson Day banquet, the 25th, in the new Wooster high school drew 196 attendees despite bad weather. Judge L R Critchfield served as toast master, Congressman T Webber Wilson of Mississippi spoke, and Mrs Bernice Pyke outlined Democratic milestones. The event featured the Rainbow Male Quartet, a four course chicken dinner, and afterparty at Congressman McSweeny home with coffee and sandwiches. Attendees included local figures from Rittman and Lakewood Board of Education members.

Annual Meeting of Rittman Auto Club Jan 20

The Rittman Auto Club will hold its annual meeting in the school auditorium next Wednesday evening January 20. Directors will be elected and speakers Mr Fred Fyker editor of the Akron Motorist and Mr Hugh Damond of Galion will address the gathering. The event is free to club members and will feature good orchestra music.

The first semester examinations were conducted on Thursday and Friday this week. County Superintendent Gibbens prepared the examination questions for the local schools.

Revival at the U B church continues with special services

The revival at the U B church began Sunday January 3 with Rev Barton and Rev and Mrs Crane leading services. Music is by the Crane couple. Growing interest may extend through next week. Thursday is Men’s Night and Friday is Family Night. Sunday morning service features Rev Crane. Sunday evening Rev Barton leads.

Miss Florence Foster Receives Bridge Luncheon Honors

Miss Florence Foster of Morria visiting her sister Mrs. Wm Swartz was guest of honor at a bridge luncheon by Mrs. H Wells last Thursday. Three tables played with honors won by Mrs Chas Newman and Mrs Marvin Wenger who each received decks of cards. Consolation went to Mrs W H Swartz who earned bath salt. Guest prize was a vase filled with bath salt.

Former Creston Man Dies in Akron Home

Arthur Hall aged 47, a former Erle agent in Creston, died Monday afternoon at his Akron home from heart trouble. Survived by wife, a son, a daughter, and brother John of Creston. Burial held Thursday in Creston.

Wayne County school superintendents and principals met Monday evening in the courthouse to discuss district matters. Superintendent Gibbons organized the gathering with a 6 o'clock dinner at Stark restaurant and a 7 o'clock business session.

Prompt payment of $500 life claim to Mrs Long’s heirs

The heirs of Mrs William Long who died December 27 filed a $500 claim and forwarded it to the WBA headquarters in Detroit on December 31. Payment was received January 11 and made to the beneficiary. Mrs Long was a member of the local review.

The Wayne Medina Co Milk Producers association met January 11 1926 in Rittman K of P hall with a large turnout from both counties. Officers were elected and reports praised, with pledges against oleomargarine and talks on cooperation by guests from Akron Kent and Summit County.

The Retibern of both the touring and newly elected Board of Education met Monday evening January 4 to organize for the year. W W Rodager was elected president and H F Longenecker vice president. Retiring president Longenecker urged service and rotation of honors. All members declined the clerkship. Ed Schar agreed to consider continuing as clerk. Bodager, new president, will name committees at the next meeting, with monthly sessions set for the first Monday evening.

Next Wednesday evening the annual meeting of the congregation will be held at the Presbyterian church. Supper follows at 6 o clock, then a business meeting for church and congregation. All members and friends are urged to attend.

Mrs. Hull Accepts Post at Argo Community Hospital

Mrs. Nettie Hull, long known in Mittman, has joined Argo Community Hospital. She will succeed Miss Minnie Armhurst as nurse-in-charge when Armhurst departs at year end. Hull recently moved from Mittman to be with her daughter and has expressed strong enthusiasm for her new role.

Birthday Dinner Honors Frank Burkett at 81

Mr and Mrs Ernest Burkett and daughter joined relatives for a dinner Sunday at the Ralph Baum home in Crenton honoring Frank Burkett on his 81st birthday.
