Sideliners Plan 30s Dance At American Legion Hall

Rittman Board elects officers and plans visits to all schools
Melvin Beery was elected president and Harvey Johnson vice president of the Rittman Board of Education. Joan Houg Lan was chosen as parks and recreation board representative. The board will meet in different school buildings monthly this year. January 20 meeting at Rittman Middle School at 7:30 p.m. Compensation set at up to 20 per member per regular meeting, not to exceed twelve yearly. The board recessed until January 20. A December 30 work session discussed 1975 budget cuts with a priority list from Superintendent Larry Stucky, aiming to preserve educational opportunities while reducing about 90 thousand dollars. Thermostats will be lowered to 65 degrees, saving fuel. Largest cut is equipment and supplies about 35,500 dollars in 1975. The district hopes for additional revenues in 1976 and may need more cuts if conditions worsen. A long-range 1. lg mill permanent improvement levy would fund projects including a new cafeteria, First Street remodeling, and an auxiliary gym storage at the high school, with remodel of the First Street cafeteria prioritized.

Stamp Drive Aids Summit Kidney Foundation Effort
The Rittman United Methodist Church reports good results in a stamp drive to fund a costly dialysis machine for Summit County. Residents are asked to save cancelled stamps and envelopes from mail and turn them in at 211 Metzger Street in Rittman. Proceeds will support the Summit County Kidney Foundation as the $25,000 device aids kidney purification for patients.
