Rittman Board approves temporary 1971 appropriations
At a Monday night meeting the Rittman Board of Education elected William Forrer as president and Dallas Haulk as vice president for 1971. A temporary appropriation measure passed, covering general control, instruction, coordinated activities, auxiliary agencies, and operations with a total general fund of 1 243 452. Final 1971 appropriations will be set in March.

William Adams To Speak At Chamber Banquet
William Adams will address the Chamber of Commerce annual banquet on Tuesday January 19. He will discuss teamwork for tomorrow. Adams, born in Birmingham Alabama, holds a Latin American Trade BBA from the University of Texas and served in Europe and Brazil with the Army Air Force in World War I. He rose from junior loan executive to sports and city editor in Texas and later led the Greater Cleveland Growth Association beginning January 1 1968. He also chairs the Cleveland Development Foundation and serves on multiple boards, with past roles in the American Chamber of Commerce Executives and the United States Chamber. An honorary USAF Reserve Captain, he received the Episcopal Bishop's Cross in 1968. Adams is married to Betty Low Pollard of Henderson Texas. they have a son and three daughters.

Memorial service for Air Force Captain Schaffner
Memorial services were held for Air Force Captain William O. Schaffner 28 formerly of Rittman who died in a jet crash in the North Sea on Sept 8 The service took place in Chapel One Lockbourne Air Force Base Schaffner a Vietnam Thailand veteran and Royal Air Force exchange pilot was flying a single seat jet on a practice mission with other aircraft and the plane plunged into the sea off the east coast of England a three day search found no wreckage The cause of the crash was not determined He is survived by his widow Linda and three sons David Jack 6 Glennon Dwite 5 and William Michael 7 months his mother Elzear Schaffner of Columbus and sister Mrs Samuel E Milliron of Worthington His father the late Jack Schaffner formerly worked at the PCA and built the house now occupied by Carl Bradford’s.

Rittman Hit By Two Fires
Rittman was struck by two blazes over New Years weekend. The first burned Rittman Tire Supply at 4 26 am New Years morning, the second at 547 pm at Sherman S Dalbey’s home. Fire crews from Sterling and Chippewa Two deployed multiple units, six hours of effort, cause undetermined.
