Liquor raid on Tony Puccio leads to fine and seizure
A deputy force raided Tony Puccio's Front Street home at about 10 PM Monday, seizing 178 bottles of beer and eight gallons of whiskey and wine. Puccio was jailed briefly then fined 100 dollars plus costs for keeping intoxicating liquors. The seized stock was stored at the village jail and will be destroyed. Puccio had prior liquor-law suspicions and a sister in law was previously arrested.

Tony Rupp Denies Arrest and Conversion Allegations
Tony Rupp denounces a prior report in The Press stating he was arrested by Deputy Marshal Schorger on February 4 in Rittman and asserts he was not charged in Warren with converting a $160 check or driving an automobile he owns. He says Warren officers arrested him for stealing an overcoat and he was acquitted of an automobile theft charge. The Press has no independent way to verify his denial.

Funeral of John Moine in Known cemetery
John Maine died February 19 1919 at age 17 after a two week illness from pneumonia. Private funeral held at his parents home east of Sterling with Rev Lynn of Ashland Brethren church presiding. He was beloved by many in Sterling Rittman and Milton township and Rittman high school sent flowers in tribute.

Winkler Child Dies After Pneumonia Attack
A four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Winkler died at the Winkler home near Rittman last Saturday after a brief illness from pneumonia. Funeral services were held at Stele Mon March.

Harkness Lee and Ben George indicted for assault and battery against Isaac Maibach in the D C Steiner Maibach store at Sterling. Grand jury also returned seven other indictments, five named publicly, two for felonies held back pending arrests. Included are Paul Setlok burglary at Applecreek West grocery, Carey Franks burglary and robbery, John Ballard pickpocketing and robbery, Harry Martin pickpocketing, Ralph Fisher larceny and related charges. Ballard’s associate Martin is at large. Twenty witnesses examined.

Soldiers Memorial Service for Elmer Clippinger
A memorial service for Elmer Clippinger who died in France October 22 1918 will be held Sunday at 2 30 pm in the Presbyterian church. Soldiers are urged to meet in the basement at 2 15 and wear service uniforms. A soldiers quartet will provide music and a gold star service flag will be unfurled in his memory. All are invited.
