Death claims two sisters in same Guilford home
Mrs. Lavina Lutz 73 and Mrs. Mary Brattin 77 died 40 hours apart in the Ira Brattin home near Seville Guilford Township. Lutz survived by four daughters and three sons. Brattin survived by two daughters a son and two grandchildren. Double funeral at Acme Lutheran church Guilford Township conducted by Rev. M G Bishop and Rev Albert Henry with interments at Mound Hill Seville and Acme Lutheran church cemeteries.

Kent defeated the Indians 69-59 in the final regular season game as Kent's sharp shooting offense built a big lead. Raymond Lance led Rittman with 19 points while Kent hit 29 of 51 shots and led 15-10 at first, 35-24 after the first half, and 48-36 through three quarters. Ashland sectional tournament drawings set for Monday in Ashland. tournament play starts Wednesday and runs Friday and Saturday.

Ray Johnson 52 dies in car wreck near Clarks Corners
Ray Eugene Johnson 52 died from a skull fracture after his Ohio Boxboard Co sedan rolled over twice on Route 94 near Clarks Corners Friday night. He was returning to Rittman from Cleveland when the crash occurred. Burial was in Wooster Cemetery after services at First Evangelical United Brethren Church. Survivors include wife Viola twin brother Roy and stepmother Rachel Johnson. Burial by McIntire Funeral Home.

Sewer Troubles Plague Council Session Monday
Council met Monday evening to discuss multiple sewer issues including a new storm sewer for the proposed school site with two alternate plans. The city will cover the cost difference to accept the preferred plan and install a sump and automatic pump at Ohio avenue to ease flood periods.
