Prominent Sterling citizen E H Miller an auctioneer and resident, while in Rittman on business Monday, suffered a severe lumbago attack. Confined to bed at Sigler House, he remained unable to return to Sterling. Mrs Miller visited Tuesday and he was shipped home that night via baggage car.
Five young men said to be Akron strikers damaged a vacant dwelling once owned by John Cross near Sterling. A passerby and Constable D H Johnson chased them toward Seville. citizens intercepted them between the towns. Justice Bolus in Wooster fined each man $5 and jailed them for 30 days.
A Friday night school program in the opera house drew full houses with standing room from stage to door. The event showcased strong musical performances by pupils and reflected well on the school authorities and teachers for emphasizing music education.
The many friends of Robert G. Tiffin announce his engagement to Miss Elizabeth R. Bohlen of Warwick.

In Marshallville area farmers tested the I. H. C. New Law against the New Idea Spreader on the Amstutz farm. John Croft backed the New Law after three expert reps from New Idea left and the I. H. C. representative G. M. Sherck defended New Low. The New Low outspread earlier but New Law proved superior in the test.
Andrew K Hoff born December 23 1845 in Wayne county Ohio died February 11 1913 in Akron He married Mary Ann Zeigler in 1870 and Ira was their son After Mary's death in 1873 he married Etta J Strouse in 1875 and had seven children Alta Shaw Effie Hostettler Cleo Hoff Clayton Hoff surviving He served in the Civil War and was active in the G A R at West Salem A longtime West Salem resident he worked as a blacksmith and was a devout Evangelical Church member The family moved to Akron in 1901 The piece notes Hoff’s regional prominence and community ties

Several locals hosted visits from relatives and friends including the Landis sisters from Wooster and others from Barberton Canton and Everett.
