City reimburses towing fee after muddy street incident

The Rittman City Council voted 3 to 2 to reimburse Jerry Kammer for his wife’s towing charge after she got stuck in mud on city owned Fairlawn extension. Critics said the city should not pay, while supporters argued the street’s condition and ownership warranted coverage. The vote included councilmen Hardgrove Wright and Whims in favor, Imhoff and Smith opposed, Jordan absent.

Rittman Bicentennial City Hit By String Of Local Thefts

A window was broken at Goodhart's Service Station on February 18 with no entry. On February 19 a battery disappeared from a new truck at Rupp Brothers Pontiac. Items stolen from a boarding barn on Rittman Road included saddle coat blanket and horse gear valued about 240 dollars. Meat shipments were swiped from a truck on February 18. An accident on February 13 damaged Kenneth Robbins’s truck, and February 14 a minor collision occurred between Jack Knapp and Willard Burkhart.

Local Bicentennial Program Honors Rittman Heritage

A yearlong effort yields a Bicentennial program highlighting past present and future. The centerpiece is restoring the Gish Homestead moved to Pioneer Cemetery as a lasting reminder of local history. Rotary Club pledged 3000 dollars, Buckeye Garden Club and others added 1000, with 4000 needed for a basement community meeting room. The project honors George Fritz and is overseen by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Wadsworth Auxiliary Plans New Chemistry Analyzer Purchase

The Wadsworth Rittman Hospital Auxiliary plans to buy a chemistry analyzer using proceeds from the May 14 and 15 follies titled A Stitch In 'Fine' at O J Work Auditorium. The device will automate tests now done manually, saving time and travel for patients and expanding in house testing locally.
