A reader from the Farm Press urges townspeople to cooperate with farmers during wartime. They argue farmers and townsfolk share the war effort and must adjust to sun time to avoid disrupting food supply and daily life. Thousands of farm youths serve, increasing rural duties at home.
Village of Rittman adopts Ordinance No. 1 declaring Eastern Standard War Time as the official time for all municipal functions. The measure, tied to Public Law 493, takes effect February 9 1942 with emergency status to prevent confu sion. passed February 22 1943 and published February 25 and March 4 1943 in The Rittman Press.
The Village of Rittman Ohio council on February 22 1943 adopted Resolution No 1673 to appropriate cemetery land in Milton Township Wayne County described as a six by six rod tract beginning 30 feet north of Section 2 and extending along the road and back to the starting point. Notice is given to heirs and others with interests in the property and to successors in office of the trustees of the Presbyterian and Lutheran Dutch Churches. Public notices run February 25 March 4 and 11 1643.

Mrs Ed Reffert and Mrs Ernest Harrison assist in entertainment.

Members of the Willing Workers class in the United Brethren church hosted a Busy Bible Class gathering. The program included songs, scripture reading from First Peter, a prayer, and a joint interpretation of the playlet Women of the Bible depicting Moses life. About 70 attendees were served a light luncheon honoring George Washington.
The Friendship Class of Rittman Church of Christ will host a regular monthly meeting and social at Mrs. Robert Blackburns on North Main Street on Friday evening February 26th.
The new club the TNTs met with a surprise party honoring Miss Joan Shew. Activities included games and later refreshments. Akron guest G. W. Holm visited this week at his daughter Mrs. Russell's home.

Mrs Hettie Kunkler dies on her 68th birthday after a year bedridden. Funeral held at Ebert Funeral Home with burial in Rittman cemetery. Survived by four children, three brothers, three grandchildren. Local clergy assisted. songs provided by Mrs Baker and Mrs Walker.

Brick Anderson of Sterling was arrested Friday night for intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was fined five dollars and costs by Mayor John Baldwin and handed to Sheriff Ed Mills at Wooster after failing to present a registration card. William Higgins of Sterling was fined five dollars and costs after appearing before Mayor Baldwin. Lester Wergler of Sterling and Wilbur Hallwell collided on Rittman and Sterling road one mile west of Rittman at 12 15 pm Sunday. no injuries. The crash damaged Hallwell’s left front and Wergler’s left front. Inspector Constable Charles Heffeeman investigated the scene.
Rittman in Wayne County becomes the first Ohio town to adopt war time by council vote. Five members approved an emergency ordinance at City Hall last Friday night with Fr Stocker and E J Brophy leading the motion and second. Clarence Britny was absent as representatives from Papermill Workers International and Ohio Boxboard Co spoke for the measure.
The Rittman Press reports that all scheduled meetings and events will follow a Fast Era Standard War Time until further notice. Congress has voted for war time timing, but Ohio lawmakers and Governor Bricker have caused confusion about its duration and applicability.

Orrville superintendent of schools R O McDougall has been named Wayne County January War Bond fan of the month. The award, announced at state War Bond headquarters in Cleveland, includes a White Man citation sponsored by the Standard Oil Company of Ohio for his top War Savings campaign work.
Daniel Hartzler of Rittman acquires a registered Holstein-Friesian bull from Pred Jeanneret & Son of Rittman. The change of ownership for the animal King-Posch Pontiac Jeanneret No 062634 is officially recorded by The Holstein-Friesian Association of America in Brattleboro.
L L Lance a retired Rittman gro cer survived a collision when an Erie fast train struck his Pontiac on Main Street. The car was totaled but Lance escaped with minor injuries and searched for a loaf of bread he had lost in the crash.
A large two day registration at First Br. School in Rittman drew 3000 registrants for war ration book No. 2, with flour, sugar and fruit can limits. W. A. Aulwill projects 7000 total in the area including Doylestown and Sterling. Teachers and students assisted, and one family declared 600 cans of fruit and vegetables, prompting use restrictions. After Friday registrants can apply at City Hall.
A March ration plan shows a family of four surviving on 102 points with meals built around canned soup vegetables fruits beans tomato juice peaches pears and prunes. The example totals 192 points for a full month and illustrates point distribution.
Rittman's participation in the national War Fund of the Red Cross launches Monday morning with a house-to-house drive led by 3% women under Mrs. W. W Bodager. The Emergency Crop and Feed Loan Section of the Farm Credit Administration invites applications for loans to small farmers lacking credit. Loans cover land preparation seed cultivation harvesting and incidental costs plus feed production for livestock. Interest is 4 percent and repayment from crop or livestock sales.
