Ten fifth and sixth grade students from Rittman Schools were named winners in a poster contest judged by Frank Zimmer and Ed Pierman of Ohio Boxboard Co. Winners include Doris Mae Bauman Paul Lapp Jeanne Tuska Susan Maus Sandra Kissinger Bill Cays Judy Parsley Frances Schindler Judy London Barbara Lewis. Posters will promote the March 9 and 10 show with tickets sold locally.

Fire prevention inspection set for Tuesday Feb 28
Local Fire Prevention Association of Ohio, under the Rittman Chamber of Commerce, will sponsor a free fire prevention inspection day on Tuesday February 28. Over 20 trained inspectors will contactdowntown businesses and schools to identify hazards and distribute safety questionnaires.

Rattman Council OKs Bauman allotment street upgrades
In a special session the Rattman Council passed two ordinances for improving Pinewood and Crisgmore Avenues with curbs and gutters in the Bauman allotment west of Hickin and south of Rittman. The work charges fall to property owners, while six inches of gravel surfacing will be paid by the developer after guttering. The council heard that 60 of 202 building lots are FHA ready and referred the street opening to a committee, contingent on a development guarantee.

Land offer for Rittman hospital site sparks fund drive
Walter Keating offered about three acres on North Main Street between North Main and East Sunset for a new hospital if a citizen group can raise the building funds. The triangular land, formerly Brookfield Housing Project property, is valued at about 10 000 dollars. Keating and his wife would donate the land to a reputable group that commits to raise funds and construct the hospital in Rittman. He plans to leave the offer open for several months and prefers the city receive the gift.

Mrs. Adah Hardgrove was called to Hastings Canada Monday evening for the illness of her mother Mrs. Iden Bond who died Tuesday afternoon soon after Mrs Hardgrove arrived. Ohio Boxboard Foundation to award two college scholarships
The Ohio Boxboard Foundation announced two four year scholarships of 500 dollars per year for high school graduates to attend any accredited college or university in the United States. Applications close April 15 and may be obtained from the companys Industrial Relations Division at Rittman. The foundation plans to continue awarding two scholarships annually.
