Plan Girl Scout Festival at High School March 2
Annual Girl Scout Festival set for Friday March 2 at 7 pm in the high school auditorium. Booths offer white elephants candy baked goods popcorn and other treats. Sixth and seventh grade Scouts open with exercises third and fourth grade Brownies sing fifth graders perform a pantomime and eighth graders advance to senior rank. A film celebrating the organizations 50th anniversary will be shown and Juliette Gordon Low is noted as founder in Savannah Georgia in 1912.

Accident on Route 94 Near Rittman Damages Vehicles
Perdita Love Day 25 of Rittman drove into a carton of ceiling tile on Route 94 one mile south of Rittman. Melvin Bentz 44 of Massillon tried to pass and sideswiped Day’s car after stopping for the obstacle. Bentz left rear fender and bumper were damaged. Wayne County Sheriff's department investigated.

Church Youth March For Heart Drive In Rittman
Rittman church youths about 60 strong will canvass the city Sunday for National Heart Day. Rev James E Watt and Ed Tavilor lead a drive with volunteers from area church groups to support the American Heart Association through literature and contributions. Captains report to their church by 6 pm and pastors submit totals to Milton Presbyterian Church.

Richard ArlIn McKenzie aged 24 escaped injury when his car struck a utility pole two miles west of Rittman on County Road 504 at 10 30 pm Friday. The vehicle skidded on a curve and sustained moderate damage. the pole was broken.

John Kohler 84 of Rittman dies after long illness
John C Kohler aged 84 died Friday at his daughter's home in Rittman after a long illness. A Wooster native he lived in Smithville before moving to Rittman 42 years ago. He worked 25 years at The Ohio Salt Co and later at R C Can Co until 1952. He was a Smithville Church of God member. Survived by son Karl and four daughters Mrs Mary King Mrs Vida Brown Mrs Isa Harvey and Mrs Vera Howell all of Rittman, two brothers Jacob of Piqua and William of Smithville, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday at Gillman Haines Funeral Home with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery Smithville.
