Ida Lambert Celebrates 85th Birthday at Legions Home

Ida Lambert aged 85 from Rittman hosted a Sunday dinner at the Legion Home with 53 guests including her co sisters grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her great grandson Jackie Hemlock of Seville played accordion after the meal.

Batteries And Money Stolen From Local Garage

About $50 in cash and batteries were taken from Burger Motors Garage on Home Street last Saturday night. Donald Null of Burbank R. D., a former employee, admitted breaking the glass door to enter. He was questioned by police, brought before Mayor Lewis Hoover, and bound over to the Grand Jury under $1500 bond. Unable to post bond, he was jailed. The stolen items were recovered.

Auditor offers tax help at county offices

County auditor Earl Lautenschlager will be at J. W. Frye Co. offices from 8 30 to noon on Monday February 26 to assist with personal property tax problems. A second auditor representative will be at Woylestown Telephone Company same day for the same purpose.

Polio Drive Total Reported for March of Dimes Fund

Final polio fund total reported was 2180 dollars with 121 dollars 68 cents collected at the Diana Theater. John Winkler presented the report after all collections were turned in.

Cassidy Returns to U S After Seven Months Abroad

Lt. Clifton H. Cassidy of the U S Air Force arrives back in the United States after seven months in England and is stationed at El Paso Texas. He visited his parents Mr and Mrs B F Cassidy east of Rittman on Route 94 on Sunday en route to El Paso.

President Elected By Mothers Club

Mrs. Marjorie Rohrer was elected the new president of Mothers Club at a Tuesday meeting hosted by Mrs. Ora Fry. Officers include Kathryn Steiner as vice president Mollie Holcomb secretary Mid King assistant secretary Bernice Fry treasurer and Geraldine Griffith assistant treasurer. The club voted to donate $10 to the Cancer Fund and planned a rummage sale for March with the 17th as a tentative date. The meeting also reviewed conventions in Houston and Akron and featured talks on rivalry and property rights. Pearl Simonton joined as a new member. 23 members attended and refreshments followed. The next meeting will be at Mary King’s home with Ruth Baldwin as co-hostess.

Sergeant's Letter Tells of Death

Mr and Mrs Russell Shaffer of Marshallville learned their son P F William Shaffer was killed in action in Korea. The sergeant wrote they had witnessed the death, claiming government notice of missing status dated Feb 4. A photo and full story appear on page 16, and the family accepts the sergeant's statements as correct.

Ohio Boxboard Co Invites Guests to Plant Tour

The Ohio Boxboard Company of Rittman invites local organizations and educators as guests for a 4 p.m. Thursday visit featuring a plant tour of offices and facilities.
