City Council Notes Street Work Finance and Ordinances

Funeral services for Mrs Isabell Trotter widow of Joseph Trotter were held Tuesday morning February 17 at 9 o clock at SS Peter and Paul s church Massillon hospital reported her death. Surviving daughter Mrs G E B Gardner of Barberton and two granddaughters, husband preceded her in death nearly twelve years ago. Burial followed at SS Peter and Paul s cemetery.

Mrs Laura Smith McIntyre wife of William McIntyre of Mt Vernon died Saturday after pneumonia illness. She had visited the Smith home and became acquainted with many Rittman people. The Friendship class of the Presbyterian Sunday school held its bi monthly social in the church parlors. Keating Undergoes Operation in Marine Hospital
Keating commander of Howard Bair Post entered the Marine hospital two weeks ago. He had an operation last Saturday for an abscess of the bowels. Mrs. Ida Plough and Keating’s three children visited him Sunday and found him weak. A card from him Tuesday said he was improving. Legion boys visited Sunday. Cemetery Improvements Planned for Village grounds
The village council approved an ordinance to enlarge the cemetery with 10 added acres purchased from Benjamin Bauman and to grade landscape and survey the area. Plans by Reiman of Wooster and O M Spade were reviewed. project cost set at 5300 dollars in annual installments. The plan shifts the cemetery road and adds a pond rock gardens vaults and 260 new family lots to meet future needs.
