Chas A Snyder proprietor of Sagy Dare Drug Store announces a new advance plan for Wayne County merchants. The store installs a modern fountain from Insocts Tountair featuring marble counter, sanitary white fixtures, and a provision for fruit and syrup receptacles. The plan promises a strict yearly $200 advance to participating merchants.
A letter from COA McGarry addresses accusations after a February 4 item naming him Best Looking Man. He praises the women who chose the honor and lists local notables such as Mayor Bender and Chief E. Mills, denying any bribery or influence in the selection.
Basketball fans in Rittman are urged to attend the Feb 18 game at Rittman High Gym. The Pierce Ole of Akron meets the local Rittman ACs in a Thursday evening showdown with likely lively action and edge-of-seat play.
The family thanks friends and neighbors for support during illness and after the death of Mrs Elizabeth Gonser with special thanks to Rey Platter for comforting words.
At the high school auditorium a declamatory contest was held Wednesday evening. Contestants included Elbertine Walfe and Mildred Smith among others with subjects such as The Busybody and For Her Sake. Judges were Creston teachers. Gail Lance won first place and Ethel Mealy took second. Lance will represent Rittman at Creston on February 22 at 7 PM.
Tuesday brought changes in the Rittman milk trade as Joe Wald becomes sole owner of the former Gainer and Hoover Dairy operations. The Smith Dairy of Orrville will not handle milk in Rittman but will continue to supply ice cream here. Victor Wald will assist Joe in managing the business, ensuring continued service to local customers.
Last night the Toreador club held a dance at Kew Branigen hall with a capacity floor crowd. The event was well attended, orderly, and attendees reported an enjoyable evening.
A Ford roadster owned by Vang an 4 Company attempted a shortcut from ridge Neo 108 to Rittman following a dirt track. The rough railroad and narrow space forced the driver to abandon turning around after a quarter mile, crossing a farmer's wheat field to rejoin a public road.
State lawmakers cap highway mileage at 11 000 miles threatening the highway commission. Division Engineer T S Brindile briefed a meeting at Aledtan on the Rittman Wadsworth corridor and related intercounty routes while hearings proceed. With no opposition and growing need the commission hopes for an affirmative decision soon.
Mrs Hugh Clark state president of the American Legion Auxiliary will be in Rittman next Tuesday February 23. In the evening she will address a joint meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary and the American Legion with invited guests. She will discuss the disabled and orphaned children, hospital visits, and orphan’s home conditions, and outline legion and auxiliary efforts to comfort these people. All members and interested parties urged to attend.
Wayne County Saxophone Band from Rittman under Prof John Smiley will perform March 3 in the high school auditorium. The group, among four saxophone bands nationwide, offers actos duets quartets and band pieces. Tickets will be available next week.
Mrs Raymond Snyder is recovering well after gallstone removal surgery at Wooster hospital. Local friends report her rapid recovery and expect her to return home soon.
A Lyceum winter program showcased a Filipino quartet whose varied numbers pleased all. The standout was Catalano Olivar on the Hawaiian guitar who entranced the audience from start to finish. It is hoped the quartet can be procured again.
Rev Dewey Ewing of Jeromesville will occupy the pulpit at the U B Church in both morning and evening services next Sunday. The Rev Horton will be in Jeromesville at this time.
A group led by J. Pisher J. B. Hickin Harmon Faber and W. E. Helks attended an Orrville meeting to organize a Jefferson day banquet on April 2 The gathering decided to honor the foremost advocate of democracy with a banquet on April 3 a notable speaker and multiple addresses followed by dancing for attendees
The council met in regular session with Mayor Bender and officials. They hired Jr Overholt as treasurer at 110 per month and reappointed Walter Deacon as fire chief at 200 per year. The body passed a resolution approving the proposed Intercounty highway and reviewed the regular pay ordinance.
The 21 month old son of Mr and Mrs Isaac Boyes died last Saturday night from complications tied to tension. It marks the first death in Rittman linked to the mcasle epidemic, which affected 65 people at one time. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by A. L. Ebert, local funeral director.
Supt E Honnold of Orrville and Supt V A Garver of Rittman depart Orrville Sunday night for Washington to attend the Department of Superintendence meeting of the National Education Association. The session runs Feb 21 to 25 with speakers including Groak Midge MaStings? and Pres Calvin Coolidge. Garver plans to attend a Rotary luncheon Wednesday at noon where Dr Herbert Work of the Interior Department will speak. The education leadership of the United States is directed by the Interior Department. the meeting ends Thursday evening. Honnold and Garver expect to return Friday morning.
A deputy IRS collector from Mansfield Ohio will be at the Ohio Box Board Company in Rittman February 25 1926 from 9 a m to 6 p m to assist residents in preparing their 1925 income tax reforms. He will explain exemptions rates and changes and urge taxpayers to seek advice on the law.
One of the largest and best sales reported with liberal terms offered. The sale highlights include bulls vealers calves and beef cows among top lots.
A. Ebert Music Store reports a strong nine day piano sale with patrons listed from Rittman Seville and Wadsworth Ohio areas. Advertisements were handled by The Proas Publishing Co and most sales involved customers in the local region.
Akron Chamber of Commerce president Robert Loa addressed Rotary Club attendees last Thursday sharing experiences in business circles. J. Gannon was slated to speak but deferred his half hour to Mr Led who will discuss boxboard manufacturing this Thursday.
