Council Reforms Snow Removal and Trash Pickup Rules

Local cancer drive volunteers canvass in Wayne County
About 70 volunteers led by co chairmen Mrs. Kenneth Osborne and Mrs. Ralph Gwaltney canvassed Wayne County districts this week urging families to watch for seven cancer danger signals and to contribute funds for service education and research. New volunteers include Mrs. Joseph Gaborsky Mrs. Ralph Keen and Mrs. Gladys Bowen as the drive aims to finish by weekend. Last year the drive raised fifteen thousand six hundred dollars with funds split between treatment aid four thousand five hundred research nine thousand and educational work for prevention.

Fire prevention inspections set for February 28 in Rittman
On Tuesday February 28 more than 20 trained inspectors from the Fire Prevention Association of Ohio will inspect downtown Rittman including businesses churches schools and public institutions. The event is coordinated by the Ruthan Chamber of Commerce and Doylestown firemen with Boy Scouts and local fire department aid.

Mrs Sigler 61 Dies in Wooster After Stroke
Creston resident Mrs Shirley Sigler aged 61 died Tuesday at Wooster Community Hospital after a stroke at her home Sunday afternoon. She had lived in Creston 15 years and was active in church and local auxiliaries. Survived by husband Edward six sons and three daughters plus 18 grandchildren. Services Friday at J C Murray Funeral Home Creston conducted by Rev Vance Schreckengast with burial in Creston cemetery.

Five DHS students advance to state speech finals
Five Doylestown High School students were winners in the speech tournament held at Doylestown Saturday. They automatically advance to the state finals in Columbus March 16 to 17. Bob Musser earned a spot in humorous declamations, Nancy Berger won the oratorical declamation, Linda Allard serves as an alternate in original orations, and Bill Daly and Jim Wennermark took first and second in extemporaneous speaking.
