A Columbus inquiry reports opposition from Bert B. Buckley and others to any further increase in the gasoline tax in Ohio. Buckley argues the current levy funds road building adequately, warns against propaganda to raise the tax, and asserts the treasurer will oppose any hike beyond three cents per gallon.
State Highway Director confirms $200000 allocation for Route No 94 with $15000 to Rittman, $50,000 set aside for Medina County, aimed at improving the highway from Wooworth to Cleveland. Local interest welcomes the plan, promising a first class roadway and renamed main route as Cleveland Kitt.
Women’s groups across Ohio unite to curb roadside billboards and barn advertising. They aim to channel legitimate advertising through proper channels and cultivate pride in America’s natural beauty. Z. W. Zimmerman, 68, was found near Friday with a bullet wound. A widower who resided at an Ashland hotel, he was not related to H. D. Faber of Rittman and left substantial possessions in Ashland County and near Wooster. Services were held at the Christian Church in Jerome with interment in Fairview Cemetery.

The Mills Auto Laundry on Shearling Ava was sold this week to Grin Biddle and Roy Be Rittra, with the Dodge agency reserved and new owners in control. Marshal Mills extends thanks for past patronage and endorses the buyers as worthy of support.
Mrs Norton presided over a recital at the Frank Schlup residence last Saturday afternoon with about twenty people attending. The event highlighted a class belth marks and featured local residents in attendance.
The American Legion sponsored community basketball feature saw the Legion beat the Fire Department 26 to 23 in a closely contested game. The event, under Legion athletic director Boyd Miller, provided about 40 young men a chance to play and offered free entertainment with good turnout, aiming to become a permanent activity.
Tha jong aria and bugle corps consisting of about Amor hired a bugle program. Mr Moody gained reputation through his instruction and Akron Grotto became a leading outfit in the state. Boyd Miller remained leader with Harry Hoeffelman as manager. Several engagements are tentatively arranged for the coming year.
A former salesman recalls how the Rittman area has grown since the Rittman Hardware Co. was established about 12 years ago. He notes steady community and business expansion, reflecting on early efforts and current progress.
The Wayne County Athletic Committee met at the county superintendent’s office to discuss the county basketball tournament set for February 18 and 25 at Wooster High School. Members included JMr Gibbons, Lao Welty, Chester High president, W. H. Himes, V A Carver, with Shreve and Fredericksburg reps among attendees. discussion covered team entries, format, and scheduling for boys and girls games leading to the district tournament in Ashland.
