Bankhead National Highway Association gathers data from state highway boards chambers and auto clubs to push federal takeover and perpetual maintenance. A citizen committee from thirteen states plans to visit Washington, citing the route from Washington to San Diego as a key military and national asset used by 1.6 million travelers last year.
Jenafhgs B Latimer a noted piano repairer will visit the Rittman area in February for a short stay to meet growing demand. He trained at the Vanguard Piano School in New York City and is now qualified to tune and prepare pianos with a satisfaction guarantee.
The Men’s Glee Club of the College of Wooster performs at the Pastime Theatre on February 21 under the Presbyterian Church Choir. Directed by M. Foneves the group earns high praise as one of the season’s best. Admission fifty cents, reserved seats twenty five cents extra. Reservations open Monday noon February 18 at Harper’s Drug Store.
Mrs Orb Fritz aged 29 died at Bergey Street Wadsworth Thursday from tuberculosis after a period of illness. Survived by husband and three children Marjory Ruth and Warren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 30 pm at the couple’s home and at the Reformed church at 2 pm. Warren had been quarantined for diphtheria and was released the day of his mother’s death.
At the Burbank Street crossing the Fiie Railroad Erie No. 16 struck a car killing George Sangs and Homer Boyd. They were Ohio Fuel Company employees from Wooster, were married, and had stopped for a freight to pass before driving onto the tracks.

On Tuesday evening many radio fans listened to WJAX in Cleveland Ohio broadcasting the Orpheus Male Choir concert. The choir had won first prize last summer at the Histeddford in Wales as the first American choir to cross the Atlantic and win the trophy.
The Cleaver Opera Singers gave a strong fourth program of the lecture course at Pastime Theatre. F Withrow Soprano Sutter Contralto L V Meehan Tenor C G Cleaver Baritone starred in Italian selections, with operatic arias from Trovatore Bohemian Girl and Rigoletto drawing hearty applause.
Mrs. F B Wells of Sheldon Avenue entertained the Friday Afternoon Club last week with most members present except two. Bridge was the main activity and a dainty lunch was served before the party disbanded at five o'clock with guests Mrs J J Gannon and Mrs C D St Clair.
The Board of Education members and spouses were hosted by the domestic science class under Misa Josephine Williams in the high school for a four course dinner. Superintendent Mason acted as toastmaster with humorous readings by Miss Layla Williams and Miss Mason Williams performing piano. The event included music by Miss Mary Helton Squires and guest Lew Mahle. the dinners are an annual affair.
The United Brothers Church revival concluded Sunday with strong attendance and many altar confessions. Four joined Sunday morning, bringing total since last Conference to 22, with more expected. Evangelistic Sunday evenings and a Pro-Easter meeting announced by Rev W N Barton.

At Rittman Grange Feb 8 a lively session featured music by Aunt Dina’s Quilting Chorus and a series of readings including The social side of farm disease and A little home. Ward Bauman spoke on Grange ideas and Possum Ridge Orchestra performed before light refreshments. A public open meeting is planned Feb 22 with club work in Wayne County led by County Agent M C Bachtell and Ashenfelter, with Carl Easterday. all are invited.
The Rittman Natomobdila Club held its meeting at the Rittman Savings Bank directors room to organize for the new year. The Rev Barton and his family learn Tuesday that his mother is dying at her East Palestine home after a long battle with creeping paralysis. They left for East Palestine on Wednesday to be with her as she nears death.
The county reports few delinquent properties with Rittman School District owning a single unpaid lot. In Rittman Village a small number of parcels remain delinquent, reflecting a generally low amount of unpaid taxes across the town, township, and county.
The County Commissioners unanimously vote against a county wide property reappraisal this year aligning with Auditor W B Haller. The move, justified by the projected cost of about 20000 dollars and a possible statewide reappraisal next year.
The Barberton Ramblers visited Sterling Tuesday evening and were trimmed 32 to 11 by Sterling A C in a basketball game.
F. C. Pyors announces a new billiard room at the former Ferdinand Schreiber site on South Main Street. The business offers Carrom and pocket billiard tables, cigars, tobaccos, and candies, inviting public patronage and promising good treatment.
The Indies of St. Ann's Church announce a bake sale in the Opera House lobby on Saturday February 16. Wooster College Glee Club performs Thursday February 21 at 8 15 P M at the Pastime Theatre.
