The ruse aims to obtain money from the operator with no service rendered.
Janet W. Gwaltney was inducted as president at the Westminster Guild of the First Presbyterian Church on February 3. Other officers sworn in include Carolyn Wald as vice president Katherine Boylan as secretary and Mary Alice Grant as treasurer. Boylan hosted the event and the group aims to boost the cancer fund.
The 43rd Boy Scouts of America anniversary is celebrated as Rittman Scouts and Cub Scouts wear insignia and work on Scout rooms in the Recreation Building. The Chamber of Commerce board elected officers for 1953 with Harry Fry as president, J M Hile as vice president, Robert Bodager as secretary, and Ralph Kra Bill as treasurer. At the annual meeting Jack Weresr and John were elected to the board.

The Young Women's Missionary Guild of the First Church of Christ submitted its local history as part of Ohio’s state birth year observance.
