Post Office Quarters Bids Sought For 400 Square Foot Room

Post Office Inspector C D Beatty in town to solicit bids on quarters for the post office. Proposals include room only, room with light and heat, and full package with furniture. Lease terms of five or ten years requested. Bids due February 15 with contract let shortly after. Also noted is a local tale about a merchant and a 25 cent payment demand from a family member.

Keim Accepts Post at Mansfield State Normal School

C B Keim, prominent in local music circles, will assume a fine position at Mansfield State Normal School in Pennsylvania. Mr and Mrs Keim will depart Lodi around February 8, with well wishers hoping for success at their new home. The Lodi Review notes the move. Death Ends Sudden Illness in Rittman Woman

Mrs. Joseph Burger of Rittman fell seriously ill Saturday and rapidly worsened despite doctors consultations. She died at 3 a.m. Sunday at her home north of town. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Doylestown, with burial in its cemetery. Obituary next week.

Etling to Introduce School Bill for Rittman

A. H. Etling announced in Columbus that he would introduce a bill in the legislature to address the Rittman school issue. Prosecuting Attorney Geo A. Starn helped prepare the bill to enable construction where no school board exists.

Interesting Letter From Oregon

Henry Correll of Forest Grove Oregon writes to G W Hershey about buying 10 acres near an electric station with city utilities. He estimates berries on the land could net 150 to 250 dollars per acre and the purchase price was 240 dollars per acre. He notes potatoes are a good crop but currently sell at about 30 cents per pound and predicts digging the 10 acres in February or March. Correll is a Sunday school worker and teaches the M E Bible class with about 85 members.
