Letter from H H Temple superintendent New Castle Division B and O R R responds to a petition from Rittman Ohio business men for better eastbound station facilities. The message notes the eastbound track is maintained by the Cleveland Division and is referred for action.
Post Office Inspector C D Beatty in town to solicit bids on quarters for the post office. Proposals include room only, room with light and heat, and full package with furniture. Lease terms of five or ten years requested. Bids due February 15 with contract let shortly after. Also noted is a local tale about a merchant and a 25 cent payment demand from a family member.
President elect Wilson lauds Wisconsin Senator La Follette for studying every angle. Wilson’s high tribute comes as New Jersey senate members discuss progressive principles, noting La Follette’s clear cases and persuasive speaking.
James Hamilton, publisher of the Lodi Review, is named chairman of the Lodi Board of Trade. The group plans reorganization and efforts to bolster factories and local industry.
Wm Bensinger was born September 16 1826 in Pottsville Pa died January 4 1913 at his home near Lodi Ohio He was the youngest of ten children and survived by seven children sixty four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren He married Catherine Collar in 1849 and Caroline Clinger in 1868 His faith and family devotion marked his life and he rests with a belief in God awaiting the Resurrection Morn
C B Keim, prominent in local music circles, will assume a fine position at Mansfield State Normal School in Pennsylvania. Mr and Mrs Keim will depart Lodi around February 8, with well wishers hoping for success at their new home. The Lodi Review notes the move. Frank E Baxster, state superintendent of banks, urges securities sale regulation in his annual report to the governor, citing widespread swindles by get-rich-quick vendors and their unfulfilling promises.
Polk Elks visited Rittman and earned a hard fought victory as the home team offered stubborn resistance. The visitors showed sportsmanship in play while extending their several years of on court success. The Rittman U B. team failed to overcome the more experienced lineup.
A letter from Epior Artwan Press of Rittman responds to The Rittman Press with critique of the January 25 game between Rittman S S and Barberton S S. It notes dribbling rules, calls for less rough play, clarifies subs used for trial, and thanks Rittman players for hospitality.
Barberton High School basketball announces the suspension of High Stars Barberton Arakaw and Fousi is lifted. The players return after missing a game due to a low grade in a department. They face South High School Cleveland at Barberton next Saturday and South High Youngstown the following week.
Mrs. Joseph Burger of Rittman fell seriously ill Saturday and rapidly worsened despite doctors consultations. She died at 3 a.m. Sunday at her home north of town. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Doylestown, with burial in its cemetery. Obituary next week.
A. H. Etling announced in Columbus that he would introduce a bill in the legislature to address the Rittman school issue. Prosecuting Attorney Geo A. Starn helped prepare the bill to enable construction where no school board exists.
The list shows leading contenders with credits for J B Mullie John Meine Miss Ruth Hull Earl Long Miss Innie Rosse Ray Musser John Beery and others. Prizes include a Bennett Typewriter a 10 Year Gold Filled Watch a World Fountain Pen and roller skates. Subscriptions must be received by March 15 at 8 pm standard time to count with ties resolved in favor of earlier entrants.

Henry Correll of Forest Grove Oregon writes to G W Hershey about buying 10 acres near an electric station with city utilities. He estimates berries on the land could net 150 to 250 dollars per acre and the purchase price was 240 dollars per acre. He notes potatoes are a good crop but currently sell at about 30 cents per pound and predicts digging the 10 acres in February or March. Correll is a Sunday school worker and teaches the M E Bible class with about 85 members.
