Three young men robbed Russel Hurts machine on Main Street at about eight p.m. They then held up Bert Gordon at his gas station, theft included $25 to $35. After stealing a car, the trio fled with one man at the wheel. Hart's car found at Wadsworth. robbers not yet apprehended.
Local members of Wadworth chapter Order of Eastern Star will meet for the annual banquet and inspection on Ribars 15. The banquet will be held at noon and inspection at 7:30. Grand Marshal Beerie Cloneh of Lorain Ohio will be inspecting officer. Members are urged to attend.
The Legion basketball team defeated Pierce Oils of Akron 44 to 24 on Tuesday night. Scoring came at will for Rittman, with the Exhigha of Creaton also losing 22 to 20 in an overtime period. Akron visitors Mrs. Fred Wells Mrs J W Baldoft Mrs J J Gannon and Mrs C Newmeh were in town Tuesday afternoon.
Lloyd Hostetler resigns from his current role to take a similar position in Millersburg. He has been assisting at Vo Thorman drug store, plans to move about March first, and cites a flattering offer from a former employer as the reason for leaving town.
Mars and Marian Fetter twin daughters of Elmer and Mrs Fetter formerly of this place earned second and third honors among twenty six graduates at Kenmore High School. Marion averaged 95.076 and Mary 94.717. First honors went to Paul Hostetler with 96.748. The Fetters moved from Rittman to Kenmore. local friends celebrate their daughters’ good work.
Four youths two girls and two boys in the prime of life were picked up in Rittman Monday night as runaways. They gave Clinton MI as their home and had been traveling by car since leaving Michigan. The boys left Clinton with $12.50, the girls and an auto, none of which they proved were theirs. Marshal Milla turned them over to the county prosecutor who awaits word from the parents.
James Jonas 78 father of O B E Jones a local schoolteacher died Sunday afternoon at his home west of West Salem after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Redbow Evangelical church officiated by Rev. J N Steffanni with burial in Redbow cemetery. The community extends sympathy to Mrs and Mrs Jones.
George Schmaltz was moved to Wooster hospital following an abdominal operation. The patient recovered from anesthesia and is reported as favorable, though some weakness remains. Further updates awaited.
R H S girls upset Burbank 23 to 18 on first Friday as G Bell and L Rizor opened scoring. Rittman now aims to beat Smithville to enter the tournament while Burbank’s Lewis led with 11 points and Griner returns for Font games next week.
City council met in regular session with mayor and clerk present. A resolution authorizing a transfer order was passed along with the regular ordinances. Plans to proceed with sanitary service Latintane were discussed, as reported in the 220f Press.
The Matin Street building grades one and two stage a Witches Carnival in February 1827. Primary students under Miss Biveyn Harter and Miss Kathryn Mothe present, with Father Yoder and Ming Buste assisting. church workers prepared the program. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with seating promptly.
A questionable frame structure has been erected on Ohio avenue by an out of town party. A grocery stock is expected to be carried.
An Akron grocer and Creston Sterling native died last week from carbon monoxide poisoning after starting a car in a closed garage. The incident occurred while he was working on a project at the garage.
State Senator Etling, in Columbus, pledged favorable words for improving the Rittman Wadaworth road this year. He reported tentative funds for the state emergency road fund to aid road improvements, though no definite promises were made.
Mra Fred Hummel mother of Charles Hummel of this place, died at her home in Woylestown after residing there 43 years. Survived by eight children, 32 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Born in Maryland, she was 82 years old.
Mrs Harry Wells hosted three tables of bridge on Thursday evening in honor of Miss Lotte McGuire of Akron guest of Mrs Chas Newman, Mrs Alex Thom, and Mrs FBL Wells. Prizes awarded to first and second place. Mrs McGuire as guest prize. Table decor featured Valentine favors and sweets.
