Elmer Frank has returned to his post office job after an operation.
The board of education approved adding two more classrooms bringing total to 15 after architect Ronald Spahn proposed a minor plan change. Bids will be invited in March once plans finish next month, with attorney C E Rhonemus handling legal papers and title certificates handed to the board.
Lions club members viewed color footage of a summer trip to Switzerland presented by Herman Kneubuehl who explained working conditions and low pay in Switzerland. John Winkler introduced Kneubuehl as President Boyd Miller appointed Howard House as Boys and Girls committee chairman. The group planned teen dances and a coasting party if weather allows while Herald Mougey announced two donation boxes tied and mailed for Foreign Relief and more gifts are welcome. Cub Scotts to visit Feb 16 and Rex Landis to be inducted next week with Rotary luncheon on Feb 19.
The Press Survey for T Rittman Press last August wins national publicity for the publisher and editor. Harlan McGrail of Kent State University oversaw the survey showing advertiser and reader interest in the local paper. Ohio Weeklies program lists Inest Harrison to present survey results at Columbus two-day Ohio Newspaper Association convention. Al Geitgey will also attend.
Living Ohio veterans may receive bonus application forms around March 1 as announced by Major General Chester Woble, director of the fund. Legion officials say the forms will be distributed to eligible veterans as soon as available and processed in Columbus in the order received.
George Sandrock of Hershey & Rohrer will lead the annual drive to support all Rittman Scouting units. A meeting at City Hall Sunday at 3 p.m. launches the effort aligned with National Boy Scout Week. Captains include John Baldwin and Ernest Harrison with Mrs Ralph Gwaltney and Catherine Twinem. Last year's budget was 1100, and a similar amount is sought for the year starting March 1.

Rittman Chamber of Commerce directors meeting at City Hall recommended to the mayor and council the appointment of a Housing Coordinator to align the water board council and builders for an early uniform home construction program. The report notes seven new members bring total to 112 and lists new and existing members from Ohio Boxboard Co and local firms. The group also backs a regular farm auction sale outskirts and approves publicity committee additions and ongoing Christmas lighting payments. Secretary reports $1100 treasury. snow removal and plowing action discussed after the recent storm.
Rittman under Superintendent W H Hauenstein reports $218 73 raised to date with rooms and grade contests boosting total to $411 25 as local efforts continue through February. Willam Brenneman asks for gifts at Rittman Savings Bank and plans container collections from business places by February 18.
DeWayne Potts of Ohio Fuel Gas Co. announced in Columbus that gas restrictions were lifted last Wednesday at 4 30 PM in the Rittman area. Local businesses and industries had faced tight supplies and restricted space heating during the prior week as the shortage prompted closures and rationing.
