Freak Accident Involves Car of Local Teacher
Local high school teacher O Hart was involved in a weekend Route 3 collision near Madisonburg. The four-vehicle crash began when a passing driver braked and struck the Drabenstott car, sending it into a creek. Hart and Mrs Drabenstott freed the trapped occupant, while Ellis Metz’s vehicle struck Hart, sending his car over a bank. Four people were hospitalized in Wooster with injuries to Metz, Mrs Metz, Janet Nash, and Clara Bartholomay. The missing driver was being sought by the sheriff’s office.

Kenneth Ulm chief air mid war den of Rittman announced a test of the Rittman Air Raid Signal will be made Saturday noon. The alarm will be simultaneous blasts from Ohio Salt and Ohio Boxboard company whistles, four 15 second blasts with short intervals. The All Clear will be a long blast. Wardens and citizens are asked to report whether they can hear the signal at homes or businesses.

Use Tax Stamps Sold Out Before Set Deadline
Post offices ran dry of use tax stamps by Saturday noon in Rittman and Milton Township. Chief Charles Heffelman noted leniency but warned all vehicles must display a stamp to avoid penalties.
