Marshallville farmer wins bronze for farm restoration
Herman Miller, a 41 year old farmer from Marshallville, received a bronze wall award from the Cleveland Farmers Club at a banquet in Hotel Cleveland. He won first place in farm restoration in northeastern Ohio after years of crop rotation changes, fence removal, land contour plowing, lime and fertilizer use, and building upgrades. The event drew farmers from 22 counties. Ronald Bosley of Marshallville won a similar award last year. Miller’s farm lies north of Marshallville along State Route 94.

William Ault was fined 15 dollars and costs and given two weeks in jail with the jail term suspended for operating a motor vehicle without a license. He also faced a reckless driving charge with a 10 dollar fine and costs. Joe McGorry received 100 dollars and costs for driving intoxicated. James M. Hile was elected president of the Rittman Chamber of Commerce at a Tuesday noon reorganizational meeting at the Rittman Savings Bank. Deaths Melvin Kraus 69 Rittman resident dies
Funeral services were held at Apostolic Christian church for Melvin Kraus 69 of four miles southwest of Rittman who died Monday morning after a lingering illness. Survived by sister Miss Clara Kraus who lived with him. A sister and brother preceded him. Revs Noah Bauman and Josephie Ramsierz officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Keckler Rites Held for Charles E. Keckler in Wadsworth
Charles E. Keckler 80 died after a long illness at his home in Wadsworth. Services were held Saturday January 23 at Grace Lutheran Church. He was a former Ohio Match Co employee and member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He is survived by a widow, two daughters, a step daughter, a step son, a brother, two sisters, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Interment was at Woodlawnd Cemetery in Wadsworth.
