Chamber pushes longer government control for Willow Brook Housing

The Rittman Chamber of Commerce urged Congress to extend government control of the Willow Brook Housing Project from three to five years. Morris-Petit Vows Held Jan 22 at United Brethren Church

Jane Morris of Neffs Ohio married James Petit of Wadsworth Ohio in a Saturday ceremony at the United Brethren church. Rev John Freymeyer read the vows. Attendants included maid of honor Bonnie Morris sister of the bride and bridesmaids Ellen Jamison and others. A reception followed at the American Legion Home with 100 guests from Canton Akron Ashland Barberton Massillon Wadsworth and Rittman. The couple will reside east of Rittman after a brief wedding trip.

Eugene Gish Joins Hile Motor Co Sales Force

Jim Hile announced this week that Eugene Gish has been added to the Hile Motor Sales force. Gish will assist Chuck Stauch in the used car department and also sell Kaiser Frazer cars as part of the expansion program to improve customer service.

Boosters Plan Jamboree to Support Rittman Athletics

Rittman Boosters Club holds a Tuesday Feb 8 show at 8 pm in the high school auditorium to raise funds for athletics. The program from WWVA Wheel ing features Cow boy Phil and Golden West Girls Abbie Corny Corn Sisters and Gay and Tena with comedy songs. Ticket sales are through boosters members and local businesses. Proceeds will fund advancement of Rittman high school athletics. Doors open 7 pm.

Rotarians Hear About Cooperation With Mexico

Rittman Rotarians heard examples of international cooperation in solving economic and social problems by Mexico and the United States when Don Bolt, renowned lecturer, spoke at a Thursday noon meeting at the United Brethren church. The speaker was introduced by Dr. E. R. Alexander, president.

Allarding Named Acting Superintendent of Mansfield Reformatory

George J Allarding former Rittman High coach becomes acting superintendent of Mansfield Reformatory starting February 1. He has served as assistant superintendent since May 1947 and will step up as Supt Arthur L Glattke takes over the State Welfare Division. Mrs Allarding, Kathryn Kinney of Orrville, has ties to Orrville and Rittman.
