Judge Walter J. Mougey issued divorce decrees in three cases. Arnold Dean of Rittman vs Mayme Dean of Rittman, Lillian Bartrum of Rittman vs Lional Bartrum of Rittman, and Lulu May CrummeI of Doylestown vs Alvin Crummel of Doylestown received decrees after hearings held earlier.
Sheriff of Wayne County transfers 48 acres in Chippewa Two to Verna Orr for 5100 dollars. Albert E. Jeffers of Creston Goodyear Aircraft employee marries Ruby Earl of Creston.
Rittman High School defeated Medina 32 to 24 on Medina’s floor last Friday night to extend their winning streak to six games. Al Graf led the Indians with 16 points as they seized the lead after the first quarter and held it the rest of the game.
Friday night features Rittman at home against Loudonville, leaders of the Central Buckeye League with a perfect record. A win could tie Loudonville for the league title. First game starts at 7 30 p m at the Rittman gym.
A meeting on February 18, 1944 at the Mayflower Hotel Akron will cover post war construction plans by the State Highway Dept. State Highway Director Hal G Sours will speak outlining regional plans and aims to improve roads and absorb labor and equipment released after the war. C E Carpenter of Ohio Boxboard Co. serves on the Wayne county committee.
Milton Presbyterian Church appoints a contact committee to stay in touch with boys in service. A monthly letter plan is arranged, with two month intervals between letters. Committee members include W W Schwartz W H Hauenstein M R Ritter and several women and misses.
Born to Mr and Mrs Walter Anderson of North Lawrence a son January 26. Former Betty Schems is the mother. A son was born to Mr and Mrs Wayne Truax Friday January 28 at Worth hospital. A son was born to Rev and Mrs Ord Gehman.
The parents of Pvt. Eugene Boyes of Creston received his Purple Heart this past week. Boyes was wounded in action on November 13 in the South Pacific and was reported as being in a hospital.
Five of the men who went to Cleveland last Wednesday for their pre induction examination were rejected. From Rittman was Clifford Wilson. The next pre induction group of 136 will leave on February 21 for the final physical examination at Cleveland.
A public meeting at City Hall set the recreation board to work with a dozen local women's clubs service groups and churches to supervise new and existing youth programs A canteen skating rink tennis courts and softball league are planned along with dancing lessons volleyball and eight basketball teams The effort highlighted by Rev Echols Leonard Over and several others aims to involve youths and expand community activities in the coming weeks

New directors elected: Mrs W R Shook, Thomas W Ross, Frank A Smith, Mrs Jeanette Smith, and R V Fredrick. New officers: Mrs W R Shook president, Frank Smith vice president, and R V Fredrick secretary.
Ben M. McIlvaine Wayne County treasurer announced plans to seek reelection as a Democrat in the May primary. A Wooster resident, he states he has served county interests fairly and efficiently in the treasurer's office.
Effective February 1 the War Price and Ration Board will determine passenger tire eligibility by occupational standards rather than mileage. More people may qualify for new tires than there are tires available, so early in the month the board will screen applicants to ensure tires go to those most essential to the war program and public health and safety.
