T K Boffenmyer a former resident now on a farm near Ashland was killed Monday morning when kicked by a colt in a box stall at his home the door open and colts loose He died of a broken rib near the heart He is survived by widow Ella Mougey Funeral services were held at 1 00 PM today from the farm home northwest of Ashland
At the regular council meeting the mayor presided as the pact to permit moving pictures on Sunday afternoons was agreed by all present. No resolution or ordinance was passed. A bonds sale notice and bills payment ordinance were approved under suspension. Court adjourned to February 2 to consider waterworks and sewer system bonds valued at 75 000 for sinking fund trustees.
Public installation of officers in the K. O. T. M. hall Friday evening completed with P. C. George Moyer and others installed. Deputy State Commander J. B. Amstutz led the ceremony with Win Brenneman helping. A grand address followed by music, with thanks to L. O. T. M. and to Mrs Clavner and Mrs Harpster. The British and Colonial Company plans to film 60 percent of a picture in flight using two balloons and an aeroplane tied together. Miss Marie Pickering stars as Thelon the heroine who leaps from a plane to rescue a detective amid dramatic sky scenes over Hendon England. The stunt claims to rival all prior aerial feats and will be shown at the Rittman Opera House next Sunday.
John Zollinger faced police court for propelling a traction engine across a paved street in Kittman under village ordinance. The village prevailed with a verdict of five dollars and costs after witnesses testified. Zollinger paid the fine and costs after admitting he had sold the engine in November. A second case, C R Schendel charged with profane language, was adjourned from Monday to Thursday.
A Sunday evening revival at the Presbyterian church brought together the two Protestant denominations already established in the village for a union service. Reverend Boston preached a strong yet mild and reasonable sermon, urging truths to take firm hold through reason and Christian moderation.
