The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that manufacturers retain title to trademarked goods and can enforce fixed retail prices. The decision affects fair play laws in a dozen states and is expected to prompt adoption of similar laws across more states in 1937.
The Treasury announces a 600 million dollar increase in money in circulation bringing the national total to about 6.5 billion dollars. The per capita figure runs to 50.21 dollars across the nation. The Reconstruction Finance Corp has disbursed nine billion since its February 1932 start. Bethlehem Steel declares a 150 dollar dividend on common stock, last paid 60 cents in 1932. The Agriculture Department upper estimate sets the cotton crop at 12 407 000 bales, about 197 pounds per harvested acre.
ex President Herbert C Hoover arrives in Washington to attend a Carnegie Institution board of trustees meeting and tells reporters he is there as a scientist, not a politician.
Duke of Windsor formerly Edward VIII begins voluntary exile as guest of Baron Eugene de Rothschild at Hazesfeld Castle near Vienna. Mrs Wallis Warfield Simpson remains in Cannes France after his abdication of the throne.
Camden New Jersey reports the first steerable rotleg skate. The design mounts on a tension swivel and uses body weight to steer, enabling a full turn within 42 inches.
Postmaster General James A Farley, newly returned from a month’s Ireland vacation, resumed duties as Democratic National Committee chairman. He planned to personally thank 20,000 party leaders nationwide for their support in the last election, and quipped about Governor Landon’s poor Florida fishing luck, saying he deserved at least a few fish.
Rome reports the death of the famed playwright and poet Pirandello at 69. He endured life with an insane wife for 17 years, saying life is a sad piece of buffoonery, as he faced financial limits and refused to send her to a sanatarium.
W P Rosell of the Federal Housing Administration spoke to the Rittman Civic Association and Rotary Club about FHA guarantees. He explained that the government does not loan directly but guarantees banks loans up to 80 percent of property value, with terms up to 19 years.
The Ohio Fuel Gas Co. hours are not fixed, the Rittman Press reports. Management aims to have the office open for payments at more convenient hours.
The Rittman Press invites entries for a Christmas exterior lighting contest with three prizes awarded east and west of Main Street and in Sterling. Judges pick the best displays this weekend, with winners announced December 30 and prizes including magazine subscriptions valued at four dollars each.
Work has begun under Wayne Kurtz street commissioner to fence in the city dump south of Rittman. The area long seen as an eye sore will be enclosed heavy posts and wire with a padlocked gate. As space fills it will be dirted leveled and grass may be planted later with council and the civic association pushing to improve the southern approach.

The junior class presented Cyclone Sally a breezy comedy Friday night to delighted crowds. Mary Balloon led as the cyclonic Sally with James Poe as the forgetful suitor and Bertram Yochhelm as the Englishman in a polished production directed by Miss Gail Lane.
Mayor J B Galehouse said only about 75 percent as many Christmas taskets were requested this year as last year, with Salvation Army and community groups aiding in preparation for the needy families.
Rittman cagers defeated the Dalton team on Dalton’s floor despite Dalton fighting the Indians’ zone defense. Rittman led 18 to 16 at halftime and extended the margin to 38 to 24. Yarman Boling Newberry West each scored eight, Haller five, Boyce one as the Indians controlled the game.
Six young people escaped serious injury after a three car collision late Saturday near Shinera burg. One Ferris boy was parked near Gaker farm changing a fat tire when Roy Kolly and Harold Powell returned home and passed Ferris' car. In attempting to avoid both cars Kelly toppled Ferris' car into a ditch. Russell Shoots and Robert Garhey followed Kelly and struck the Ferris vehicle. Names of the two girls with Sheeta and Gardner were not released. Marshal Morgan visited the scene Sunday and aided highway patrol in the investigation.
The Rittman Parent Teachers Association schedules its December meeting in the high school auditorium Monday at 7 30 p m A short program featuring grade school pupils led by Miss Grace Irvin plus a Community Sing led by Mr Lawrence Chambers will be offered Refreshments will be provided by the Domestic Arts department with a small admission for children and adults.
Dispatcher Morgan settled a quarrel over a pig sale at the Chippewa Grill. Louis Gigandet received two dollars, Wesley Lance paid two dollars, Big Mike Goumbach added three dollars, and the marshal ruled the initial bargain stood with Goumbach getting his three dollars back and Gigandet earning two.
City post office announces 10 AS day opening for the new lobby as Postmaster Robert J. Hie announces preparations and a Friday event. Officials expect increased mail service and customer access in the upgraded space.
Schumann plans to leave Grafton to operate the Rittman theater as Ralph White takes over in Grafton with his family. Schumann may relocate to Los Angeles to pursue theater control or other business ventures with plans dated for early 1937.
