The Bittman Boosters Club executive committee set a meeting outcome to elect new officers on Friday evening December 20 in the high school hall before the Christmas program. Nominating committee members are Tom Young W H Haulenstein and Mrs Ernest Harrison. A 300 member count was announced and voters must bring membership cards.

Women Host Family Night Supper at Local Church
The Women's Society of World Service of the Evangelical United Brethren Church met in church parlors for a family night supper on December 5. Mrs. Paul Johnson led the program on how Christmas is observed in other countries, aided by several members. Carol Collins performed Silent Night and a duet was sung by two members. President Mrs. Lucille Graber closed with prayer.

The American Legion Auxiliary met with 30 members at the Legion home. They sent $1 to the Wayne County Tuberculosis Association for stamps and voted to send gifts to all veterans in hospitals from the Rittman area. The meeting closed with a Christmas party and gift exchange.

Milton church World Service hosts hold Christmas gathering
Mrs. E J McConnell hosted the World Service Group at her home with 23 members present. They voted to send 10 to the Wildland Center Neighbors House in Cleveland for Christmas. Wadsworth Sets New Record in Football Attendance
Supt. W H Hauenstein reported December 2 on season attendance and gate receipts. The Rittman Wadsworth game November 1 drew the largest crowd ever, with 1940 paid admissions. Other attendances included Orrville 1746 Madison 1056 Loudonville 913 Greensburg 755 Alumni 437. Total receipts were 3613 with two thirds spent on equipment officials lights and operating costs.

William Newberry 77 Dies After Yearlong Illness
William V. Newberry 77 died at the Ideal Nursing Home of Barbertown after a yearlong illness. He is survived by two sons L. D. of Medina and E. G. of Rittman, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services are Friday afternoon at Murray Funeral Home Creston, with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery. Gene Miracle Wins Longest Pheasant Tail Feather
High school sophomore Gene Miracle won the Rittman Department Store contest with a tail feather measuring 25 inches. He received a $5 merchandise prize. Second place was taken by R. G. Hessidence of Saltst with a 23.75 inch feather and Walter Link placed third at 23.625 inches from among 40 plus entries.

Mougey Returns From Crile Hospital After Army Injuries
Herald Mougey of Rittman returned from Crile hospital in Cleveland after three weeks treatment for Army in Europe injuries. His condition is reported much improved though doctors advise limiting activity to a minimum.

Rittman Fire Responds To Two Chippewa Township Fires
The Rittman fire department answered two fires in Chippewa Township. The first, a grass fire near the county line west on Route 94, occurred Saturday afternoon. The second, near the same Route 94 area, involved the cab of a well drilling rig burned Tuesday evening.

Entre Nous Meets Tuesday With Norma Artrip
The December Entre Nous Club meeting was hosted by Norma Artrip with 18 members and sponsor Mrs. Clarence Kunkler. The group planned sending a microfilm book to Crile Hospital Parma and finalized details for the December 28 City Hall dance including a first floor soft drink bar. Cemetery Lot Sold Twice Sparks Council Session
Mr and Mrs Ed Mills told the village council they bought a lot in the Rittman cemetery in 1944 and later found another grave on it. The cemetery board claimed a mistake and offered another lot, which they could not accept. The council will meet the cemetery board to seek a solution.
