Indians Beat Norton Center In 66-60 Upset

Loudonville hosted NHS in a hard fought game with Red Men taking a 66-60 win over Norton. Norton’s Ritzman led 13 points while NHS’s Howell and Lamberton contributed as the Indians pulled ahead in the third quarter and held off a late Norton surge.

Alfred Anderson and family report sighting strange airborne objects near Rittman Ohio last Saturday night. He describes a fast bird like craft with a point and tail circling for about 45 minutes. Lions Club furnished the lounge, completed Dec. 1, with draperies bought by the recreation advisory council from funds donated by several groups and the Rittman Homecoming committee.

The Junior Mothers Club of Rittman gathers good repair toys this month for distribution to needy children. Donations may be arranged through Thelma Gwaltney. At their December 2 meeting at Diversion Hall, Mrs. Dwight Davidson hosted with a monologue The Second Christmas, assisted by Harvetta Shook on piano and Vi Hall singing carols. Two Brothers Die in Accident Will Be Buried Friday

Funeral services for Ernest R Powell 66 and George Powell 73 of Paden City West Virginia will be held Friday at 2 pm at Gillman funeral home. Both died from injuries in a car crash at the junction of Routes 250 and 21 west of Dover. Stella Lebok and her year old son were hospitalized. Ernest Powell retired from Ohio Boxboard Co in 1952 after 26 years and served in World War II. George Powell worked 19 years at Ohio Boxboard Co then moved to Paden City three years ago and leaves multiple children and grandchildren. TB Tests Reveal 145 Cardiac Cases and TB Deaths in Wayne County

Wayne County Health Association released figures showing 145 cardiac and other pathology cases found during intensified TB screening, with four TB deaths and 568 suspected cases countywide. In 1952 Wayne spent 46,270 for TB sanatorium care, while 1,047 patients were examined in 20 chest clinics, aided by Dr. Edward Arnold and funded X-ray diagnostics.

Deaths: Nellie Van Zile

Nellie Van Zile, 67, died at her daughter Joy Lutz’s home in Rittman after a stroke and long illness. Born in Sterling, she moved to Rittman in 1940 and lived with her daughter at 157 N State. Survivors include daughter Joye Lutz, brothers Paul and Carl Johnson, sister Mary Blatt, and granddaughter Peggy Lutz. Burial in Rittman cemetery after services at Brodrick Funeral Home led by Rev J W Plumber and Rev D K Freymeyer.

Police Nab Eleven In Traffic Drive

In a week long crackdown by Rittman police on careless driving, eleven motorists were charged with offenses including reckless driving speeding improper license plates no license driving left of center and stop sign violations. Fines ranged from 5 to 25 dollars plus costs.
