Homeless Transients Sleep Overnight in City Hall Jail

Three unidentified wanderers sheltered in the City Hall transient room overnight as snow blankets the area. They told reporters they are drifting, heading for nowhere in particular and seeking any place to obtain shelter or essentials.

Men’s Bible Class Elects 1938 Officers

At the Mt. Herman Men's Bible Class annual meeting in the Presbyterian Church basement the following officers were elected for 1938: F. A. Schlup president, Charles I Rohrer vice president, and Hugh McCracken secretary-treasurer. A membership committee was approved with Emerson Davis Dr C C Gregg and Dr E R Alexander. ex-officio members were F A Schlup and Rev E S Hendrickson. The session closed with games and refreshments.

Leona Harmon to enter Wayne County Prince of Peace Contest

Leona Harmon who won the dec lamation contest sponsored by the Church of Christ will participate in the Wayne County Prince of Peace Contest on December 12. She will declaim America Seen Through the Eyes of a Stranger. Leona is a freshman at Rittman High School.

Rittman School Board Approves Upgrades and Holiday Schedule

The Rittman Board of Education met Wednesday in the high school office. Members Swartz Sheok Brophy and Baldwin discussed bills, improvements to the primary building, a new storm door, and enhanced heating and ventilation. Superintendent Garver requested December 24 to January 2 as a holiday period with 10 days off, to be made up in June.

Bert Gordon Leaves Sohio For Texaco Gas Sales

Bert Gordon proprietor of Gordon's Service Station near Malin left Sohio to become a Texaco dealer. The change was marked by a new sign with a green star on a pillar replacing the old Sohio signs.

Thomas Drug Store Hosts Buckeye Stages Ticket Office

The Buckeye Stages System ticketing and information desk opens at Thomas Drug Store on the west side of the Square. Staff will sell tickets check packages and answer inquiries about arrivals departures and connections to Cleveland Wooster Columbus and Cincinnati.

Ice on Ohio Avenue Triggers Skid Crash

David Raff a tailor shop employee collided at Ohio and State Streets when the ice covered pavement caused his car to skid. The right rear wheel was smashed and the running board damaged as Raff and two companions traveled toward State Street. Rumor cites Marley Macy also with a wheel damage on the same street.

McConnell Herd Receives National Recognition

Two Guernsey cows from C M McConnell's Weat Salem Ohio herd completed official records in the Herd Improvement Division. The two year old Five Points Addie Jean 475146 produced 338 dazz 7760.1 pounds of milk and 364.3 butter fat in GHI. McConnell is linked to E B McConnell of Rittman.

Rittman Park Board Plans January Meeting and Purchases

Howard A. Ball Post No 423 of the American Legion met Tuesday night at the Legion Hall in 30 degree weather. Commander Tilson led seven members through the regular meeting with prayers, creed, and roll call. Football Banquet Set for High School Team Guests
