Sunday shortly after 2:30 pm a westbound freight train derailed six cars at Mainz crossing when a drawbar pulled free and dropped to the roadbed. The crossing and approach were torn up with a leveled bank. No serious injuries reported though delays persisted as wrecking crews repaired the line.
