Mayor appoints five to Board of Zoning Appeals
Mayor Lewis F Hoover appointed a five member Board of Zoning Appeals at the Monday council meeting. Members are Charles Rohrer one year Ralph Overholt two years F O Kanehl three years Gault Aurand Sr four years and Michael Serjack five years. The board will review applications for zoning ordinance exemptions and will serve without pay. Three members Rohrer Overholt and Kanehl helped draft the zoning ordinance. A council committee was named to advise on the new inspector position to review building permit applications for ordinance compliance. The sidewalk ordinance debate ended 3 3 with third reading set for the next meeting. The Shade Tree Commission asked to remove elm trees affected by Dutch Elm Disease and to spray all trees.

Rotary Club Erects Flag Pole in New Recreation Area
The Rotary Club plan to install and dedicate a flag pole in a large public recreation area near Industrial Street. Mayor Lewis F Hoover, Dr E R Alexander, Harry Fry, and City Engineer L B Parrot reviewed the site with support from Ohio Edison Co Ohio Fuel Gas Co and C B Shook. The pole will be unveiled at 1 pm Monday during Labor Day ceremonies with public car access to the site.
