Prize Winning Dog Adds More Laurels at Belmont-Jefferson Trials
Beaver Leaf Sport owned by Norris Keating of Rittman Ohio won first prize in the 13 inch male all age class at the Belmont Jefferson licensed trial in St. Clairsville on August 7 9 20. 64 dogs from eight states competed including entrants from Mississippi. Sport was recalled in the Steubenville trials with a 97 dog class on August 19 14 and 15 and now has 132 Field Champion points needing one more licensed first to become a Field Champion and be retired to stud. His progeny already win in field trials. Keating also has Car E Line Mark competing in Southern Michigan on August 19. He is active with the Rittman Rod and Gun Club Northern Ohio Beagle Club and the Jackson County Beagle Club.

Three Car Crash Injures Rittman Woman on Route 30
Mrs Mary Marie Berkey 59 of 22 South State Street Rittman sustained a bruised right side in a three car collision on Route 30 east of Riceland Tuesday evening. Cars driven by Maurice Chachkes Yonkers New York Vernon R Reibell Homer City Pennsylvania and Orie Berkey husband of the injured woman. Berkey attempted a left turn to reach a roadside cheese store but saw no approaching car. Reibell tried to avoid impact by turning left but was hit from Chachkes side. All three cars damaged with Berkey’s side caved in.

City Recreation Field Day Planned With Dual Sessions
A city recreation field day is set for Friday August 25 with a morning 10:00 a.m. and an afternoon 1:00 p.m. start. Missing In Korea Staff Sergeant McClain
Mrs. Alvena McClain learned August 16 that her husband, Staff Sergeant Fredrick McClain of the 24th Infantry Division, has been missing in action since June 20 in Korea. McClain served three years in the Pacific during World War II and earned two silver stars and one bronze star. He reenlisted in May 1948 and was sent to Korea when the war erupted. He previously worked for the Goodyear affiliated company in Akron. His wife and daughter Clen, 8, reside at 219 East Market Street Akron. He is the son in law of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clinkerbeard of Rittman.

Brothers Reunited After Twenty Two Years at Enon Park
The Blanton brothers Ben and Kelse reunited after 22 years at a day-long picnic in George Rogers Clark Memorial Park Enon. Both born near Ashland Kentucky Kelse, 68, now lives in Shreve Ohio Ben, 66, moved from Ashland to Rittman Ohio in 1950 Descendants about 50 attended including Caleb Blanton and family, Mrs Blanton Earl and Lois Ann.

Missing in action PFC Eugene Bud Helms 21
PFC Eugene Bud Helms, 21, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Helms of 46 N State St, is missing in action in Korea since July 20, 1950. He served with the Motor Pool 19th Regiment, 24th Division.
