School health guidance urges parents to ensure children have good physical health before starting school. Dental, vision, hearing, and overall fitness are emphasized as foundational for success, with medical checks recommended by a family physician before September enrollment.
A Monday night blaze on Salt Street gutted an old building once used as a restaurant and later for tool and parts storage. Fire Chief Everett Wakler said good water pressure was hindered by nearby power lines and that damage estimates and the fire’s cause were not yet known.

The appraisement was conducted by D. Ed Sens C M Kieffer and J M Smucker. Widow H Inez Bowers is settling the estate.
