Tennessee ratifies woman suffrage amendment

Wednesday afternoon the Tennessee lower house voted 46 to 47 to ratify the national woman suffrage amendment. The Tennessee Senate had already approved by a large majority, making Tennessee the seventh state to ratify. Once the Secretary of State issues the proclamation, the amendment will be complete and women will gain full voting rights in future elections.

Negro Arrested at Sterling for Disturbance and Observation

A man described as 37 years old was arrested in Sterling after causing a public disturbance by shouting on the streets. He claimed he shot a man Monday night over a wife dispute but could not identify the victim. He was taken to the Wooster county jail for observation.
