Nine year old William Clifford Snell drowned at Killbuck Creek while picnicking near Wooster. A warning about a creek drop off came too late. Billy stepped in and drowned. His body was recovered about an hour later with grappling hooks. He leaves his parents Clifford and, Chauncey Snell and Oliver Hoskinson grandparents. Funeral at Evangelical United Brethren Church Rittman burial in Rittman Cemetery.

Plan for Rittman kids fishing derby discussed
Plan for another fishing derby for the Rittman kids was discussed by the Rod and Gun Club Monday evening. No definite date was set but it was to be held in the later part of September with further notice to follow. The club also approved purchasing red and green club emblems for hunters to wear. Fall trap shooting series will begin after Labor Day with dates to be announced in later issues.

William P. Baines of Philadelphia joined the Ohio Boxboard Company's supervisory force in the Pressroom on Monday July 17. He has 17 years with Curtis Publishing in Philadelphia and earlier roles with Bartgis Brothers New Haven National Folding Box Co Hershey Paper Box Co Kingston. During World War I he oversaw Quartermasters interior depots in Philadelphia New Cumberland and Harrisburg. He and Mrs. Baines reside in Wadsworth at 114 North Pardee Street. Their daughter Lillian is an obstetrics supervisor in Chicago and studied at the University of Pennsylvania.

Injured Woman In Auto Crash In Ohio Valley
Mrs Frank Bowen suffered back and neck injuries and serious bruises after her 1950 Chevrolet was hit by a Wadsworth youth driving a 1947 Chevrolet at the Third Street and Ohio Avenue crossroads. She was en route to Ohio Boxboard Co. to pick up her husband around 10:30 p.m. The youth faced charges of reckless driving driving without a license and running a stop sign. The Bowen car sustained major damage to the right front and side while the Wadsworth vehicle had a severely damaged front.

The Rittman Chamber of Commerce urges the State Highway Department to consider a four point plan for highway upgrades. Proposals include finishing blacktop on Route 94 south of Rittman to Route 5, upgrading Route 604 from Easton to Route 3, future widening of Route 604 west of Route 3 to aid Ashland traffic, and paving Route 548 between Easton and Marshallville. Semler Products uses local firms to launch two new rubber toys Dozee a sleeping baby doll and Muggby a cap wearing monkey.
