Girl Injured In Bike Accident Injures 10-year-old Sandra Courtwright
Sandra Courtwright age 10 of 51 North Main Street sustained a compound fracture of her left leg Saturday while riding toward the swimming pool. She was taken by Gillman's to Wadsworth Rittman Hospital and transferred to Akron Children's Hospital where she remains confined. The girl said another child on a different bike chased her and collided, causing her to fall and her leg to be tangled in the handlebars.

Death Toll Rises On Route 97 Conference Highlights
Bruce Trogdon, son of Dee and Mrs. Trogdon, attended a two day Teen Age Republican conference at Denison University Granville. He is part of the campaign committee for Lindsey Williams of Rittman for Ohio House. The event featured panels on youth party involvement with leaders including Martha C. Hershman Wins Top Hahn Sales Honor at Indy Show
About 139 representatives from 50 Hahn distributor firms gathered in Evansville Indiana for the 17th Hahn Outdoor products show. Charles Hershman of Hershman’s Lawn and Garden in Rittman won the top “King Heco” award for the greatest sales increase among Hahn distributors in the United States. Hershman began as a Hahn distributor eight years ago after acquiring Hopkins and Kipp and relocating to Rittman.

Accident Claims Creston Woman on Route 57
A Creston woman, Mrs McIlvaine born May 13 1892 in Kalamazoo Michigan, died in an accident on Route 57. Traffic delays persisted for hours as a semi and other vehicle loads were transferred. Surviving include her husband two sons Rex and Earl, a sister and brother, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Frances Plahuta age 68 of 66 Hickin Ave died Saturday at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital after a heart attack at home. Born Oct 15 1903 in Neffs she lived in Glencoe before moving to Rittman in 1932. Surviving: two daughters Virginia Kindig and Audrey Stehlin, one son Kenneth, six siblings, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were at Gillman Funeral Home 1100 AM Tuesday officiated by Fr Thomas McMahon. Burial in Rittman Cemetery.

Truck Hits Bridge Demolishes Vehicle on County Road 5
Dale Rohrer owned truck demolished after collision with bridge on County Road 5. John H. Vance, 23, of Rittman, driving west, swiped the bridge while yielding for another vehicle. The truck bed caught the bridge, flipped multiple times. Vance was not cited and was taken to Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
