15 Rittman men work on Mali Street paving

With 75 Rittman men in three shifts, work on Mali Street speeds toward a September 1 completion. Crews remove bricks in a half-width section to keep traffic flowing, then replace with concrete bed and binder before laying new bricks.

Milk Prices Boosted in Akron District to 2.45 Cwt

The state milk commission orders wholesale milk prices in the Akron district raised from 2.38 to 2.45 per 100 pounds. Producers and distributors say they are making progress after weeks of dispute over August class 1 milk pricing. Dealers indicate willingness to pay while concerns remain about other dealers holding back. The commission asked parties to settle, and will fix the price if talks fail.

Sterling Named Postmaster Amid Political Endorsement

The Central Democratic Committee endorsed W Alperry Barnhart for postmaster of Sterling. Congress Man William R Thom accepted the committee's suggestion noting Barnhart was born and lifelong Sterling resident. He worked for Union Switch and Signal on the Erie railroad, then served 10 years in the Army including World War I campaigns Saint Mihiel and Argonne where he was wounded. He returned in 1920 and became an employer at Ohio Boxboard Co in Rittman.

City to hire sanitary engineer for one year

An ordinance for employing a sanitary engineer passed final reading in a regular session. The post lacks a named candidate and officials seek an engineer from a nearby city. The appointee must meet State Board of Health requirements and will serve one year at a salary of 40 dollars per month.

Electric Offices Move From Lodi to Oberlin

The Reserve Power and Light company moved its offices last week from Lodi to Oberlin. The Lodi office, previously handling six companies, shifts operations to Marion and Oberlin. A. S. Natherson moves to the Marion main office, Gerald T. Steeley heads the Reserve company in Oberlin, Samuel Marsh takes over Western Reserve in Lodi, and two more Western Reserve staff are added.

Wayne County Guernsey Bull Gains National Recognition

A Wayne County bull named Larkfield Butterscup's Kink, bred by Daniel Ramseyver of Smithville, has earned national recognition by entering the Advance Register of the American Guernsey Cattle Club. His two daughters, Buttercup's Spot and Nutrio's Buttercup, hold official records with high production, 535 720 pounds of milk and 39.8 pounds of fat in class AAA, signaling strong lineage and future sire potential.

Nocturnal Marksman Surrenders to Morgan

The man identified as Marksman Bartram, 24, surrendered to Morgan authorities after a nocturnal shooting incident near Venus and Salt. He was arraigned in Mayor Snyder's court, pled guilty to disorderly conduct, and fined 25 dollars with costs. the fine suspended on his promise to remain of good behavior for six months.

Hold-Rites for Business Man Forest Caskey

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Forest Caskey a well known resident. He died Monday evening after a week long illness. Lightning Strikes Near Marshal Morgan Home

Severe storm last Thursday evening saw a lightning strike along an electric lead-in wire outside Marshal Morgan’s home. A single bolt followed the wiring into the house, momentarily dominating the environment. Mrs. Morgan, in the kitchen, was knocked to the floor sustaining a bruised right arm. Fire department arrived and found no fire damage beyond possible insulation burn.
