With 75 Rittman men in three shifts, work on Mali Street speeds toward a September 1 completion. Crews remove bricks in a half-width section to keep traffic flowing, then replace with concrete bed and binder before laying new bricks.
The state milk commission orders wholesale milk prices in the Akron district raised from 2.38 to 2.45 per 100 pounds. Producers and distributors say they are making progress after weeks of dispute over August class 1 milk pricing. Dealers indicate willingness to pay while concerns remain about other dealers holding back. The commission asked parties to settle, and will fix the price if talks fail.

The Ladies of St Ann's church hold an afternoon garden card party at Central Park in Rittman on Thursday August 16 at 2 PM. Prizes will be awarded at each table and refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.
Twenty two friends and relatives of Mr and Mrs Samuel Manas from Youngstown attend the christening of their twin daughter Sun Day. The newborns receive the names Roy and Olga.
The Central Democratic Committee endorsed W Alperry Barnhart for postmaster of Sterling. Congress Man William R Thom accepted the committee's suggestion noting Barnhart was born and lifelong Sterling resident. He worked for Union Switch and Signal on the Erie railroad, then served 10 years in the Army including World War I campaigns Saint Mihiel and Argonne where he was wounded. He returned in 1920 and became an employer at Ohio Boxboard Co in Rittman.
An ordinance for employing a sanitary engineer passed final reading in a regular session. The post lacks a named candidate and officials seek an engineer from a nearby city. The appointee must meet State Board of Health requirements and will serve one year at a salary of 40 dollars per month.
The Reserve Power and Light company moved its offices last week from Lodi to Oberlin. The Lodi office, previously handling six companies, shifts operations to Marion and Oberlin. A. S. Natherson moves to the Marion main office, Gerald T. Steeley heads the Reserve company in Oberlin, Samuel Marsh takes over Western Reserve in Lodi, and two more Western Reserve staff are added.
A Wayne County bull named Larkfield Butterscup's Kink, bred by Daniel Ramseyver of Smithville, has earned national recognition by entering the Advance Register of the American Guernsey Cattle Club. His two daughters, Buttercup's Spot and Nutrio's Buttercup, hold official records with high production, 535 720 pounds of milk and 39.8 pounds of fat in class AAA, signaling strong lineage and future sire potential.

The man identified as Marksman Bartram, 24, surrendered to Morgan authorities after a nocturnal shooting incident near Venus and Salt. He was arraigned in Mayor Snyder's court, pled guilty to disorderly conduct, and fined 25 dollars with costs. the fine suspended on his promise to remain of good behavior for six months.
Miss Irene Kirtley of Wadsworth married Marley F Magy at the Rittman United Brethren parsonage on a Friday evening. Rev F McGee performed the single ring ceremony with attendants Mrs B Roudle bush and Mr Mary. The bride is employed at the Ohio Box Board and the couple will reside with Mrs N Broudabush on E Ohio Avenue.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Forest Caskey a well known resident. He died Monday evening after a week long illness. Surviving relatives include his parents Mr and Mrs Elmer Cosker and one sister Mrs Tan Wrishtall of Creston. Interment was in Creston Cemetery with Presbyterian church affiliation.
Jennings Sterling named president of the Réuniei gathering held at Mrs Laoura Jennings home near Fredericksburg. Mrs Ols Burns was elected secretary. The next reunion is set for the first Sunday in August 1935 at the same location.
Chippewa trustees appoint E W Stepfield to fill the unexpired term of Roy Niehaus who is moving to Corpus Christi Texas. Stepfield was named by the trustees John Zimmer Bert Pore and Thomas Walsh to fill the vacancy in the township clerk position.
The Ritt Theatre undergoes major remodeling with new seating and updated wiring. Manager at the renovated venue describes improved interior layout and safer exits, while outside noise and street activity continue to affect nearby residents.
The Sterling school board met Monday to set a September 4 start for Milton Township pupils. Officials discussed budget cuts and library book reductions to save money, with no new books purchased. The board also approved noon dismissal with written parental consent and reviewed bus safety provisions from the Governor’s Safety Commission.
Severe storm last Thursday evening saw a lightning strike along an electric lead-in wire outside Marshal Morgan’s home. A single bolt followed the wiring into the house, momentarily dominating the environment. Mrs. Morgan, in the kitchen, was knocked to the floor sustaining a bruised right arm. Fire department arrived and found no fire damage beyond possible insulation burn.

Sellers of Doylestown, widow Mamie Sellers and two sons listed as heirs. Estate valued around 2100 dollars. Lloyd Shanklin of Creston sentenced to six months in county jail for assault and battery after arraignment in Justice Van Nest court. alleged disorderly conduct at Creston.
