Robert Regal Injured by 4000 Volt Line

Lineman Robert Regal of the Ohio Public Service Co. was shocked by a 4000 volt line while securing a safety belt on a utility pole. He suffered severe arm and leg burns and a dislocated shoulder, was unconscious briefly, then revived with help from Orlyn Pressler who performed artificial respiration. He was hospitalized at Wadsworth and improving.

Fire crews battle hay baler blaze on Ramsier farm north of Rittman

The township fire truck rushed to a Tuesday evening alarm at the Joseph Ramsier farm, where a hay baler was burning. No injuries are reported.

Booster Festival Friday Night Final Arrangements

Final preparations completed by the Booster committee for Friday night’s festival. The amateur variety show starts at 7 p m directed by Coach Ashton Hall, Massillon Tigers band takes the field at 8 p m, with a concert of marches songs and crowd participation. Jack Daley, Boyd Miller, and K W Osborne host, prizes drawn after the bean supper.

First Emch allotment home completed in 60 days

The first house in the Emch allotment is finished after six weeks of June to August work and will be open for inspection on Saturday August 9 from 2 30 to 9 p m. Designed by Paul Emch and built under Fred Ramsier supervision the four room semi brick home includes a basement garage and automatic gas furnace with a price around 8500. Six more homes are under construction and slated for completion by September 15.

Boxboard Company Labor Day Show At Ohio Field

Ohio Boxboard Company's Labor Day program at the baseball field features Pappy Howard's Band at 7 p m followed by company service pins in five year brackets. An hour long stage show and a half hour of fireworks conclude the evening with safety seating fireworks stage crew listed. In case of rain the event is cancelled.

Wreck on Route 94 Claims Miss Mamie Hyre Life

Miss Mamie Hyre 56 of Buckhannon West Virginia died in a Route 94 wreck near the Erie underpass west of Rittman at 10 45 am Wednesday. Her car a 1941 Studebaker turned over after a left rear tire blew out. Three passengers survived with shock and bruises. Funeral arrangements were being made in Buckhannon.

Packing Firm Controller Fined For Noisy Cattle

George Pfaltzgraf manager of the Rittman Packing Co faced charges of cattle on premises creating excessive nighttime noise. Mayor Ritter fined him $20 plus costs. appeal filed to Wooster common pleas court with Wooster attorney representation for Pfaltzgraf and residents.
