Milton Presbyterian Church under Pastor Dwight Brooker Davidson invites all members and friends to attend Bible School each Sunday morning in August at 0:15. The 10:30 a.m. morning worship features The Gospel of Christ with preaching by the pastor. There will be no evening service in August. The church offers good music, gospel, fellowship and a warm welcome.
Morning worship and Bible school at 9 30 led by J C Schaefer superintendent. Worship and communion at 10 15. Pastor Goodale to preach. Evening Christian Endeavor at 6 45 followed by service at 7 36.
United Brethren Church led by Pastor W. Price offers 9 30 Bible school with Isaac H Bott as General Superintendent. Morning sermon From Tears to Triumph. Evening Worship at 7 30 featuring Otterbein Bible class in charge and a dramatized closing song. Junior department hosted children. No Sunday school council or official board meetings in August. Midweek prayer and Bible study Wednesday at 7 30 with choir at 8 30.
Church of God led by Rev Albert Henry offers unified services at 9:30 with 10:15 morning message and 10:45 Sunday School. evening services at 6:30 and 7:30. Wesleyan Methodist lists First Pastor at 9:30 and Sunday School with Sath Shank Baptism at 10:30, 6:30 Young Peoples meeting, 7:30 Evening worship, and midweek prayer on Wednesday at 7:30.
St Anne’s Catholic Church lists Sunday Mass at 8 a m and high Mass at 10 a m with Father John T Farrell presiding. Local parishioners are advised to attend in keeping with the traditional schedule.
Rev Carl Keasler leads Sunday School at 9 45 with worship at 11 00. The Sunday School picnic follows services at Waltz s Grove. The 49th Shook family reunion is set for Sunday Aug 13 at 1 p m at Rit Man Central Park.
Pvt Calvin J Nieman 19 of Seville was killed in action in Italy. He enlisted October 7, 1943, trained at Fort Hayes and Camp Blanding, served as a machine gunner, left overseas March 19, served four months and nine days. He was the youngest Nieman, twin to Alvin, and survived by parents Henry and Mrs Nieman and siblings Irene Eugene Ray Charles Margaret.
PFC Paul E. Dickerson son of Mr and Mrs H B Dickerson 145 Sterling Ave earned the Combat Infantryman Badge for exemplary conduct in action. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood and serves as a messenger. his unit was among first overseas, relieved Guadalcanal Marines, and shares a Presidential Unit Citation. European Theater engineers adapted to D-Day as hotel service for troops, organizing food, beds, sanitation and living quarters while massed for takeoff. They handled waterproofing, firefighting, water supply, stores, and emergency tasks, then cleaned camps for new occupants and disposed of excess clothing stocks.
Edward Manogue, 77, died Monday morning about seven at his son's home on South Main Street where he had been living briefly. He was born in Quebec, Canada. The body was shipped from Ebert Funeral Home to Haverhill, Massachusetts, for burial today.

Dr. Paul E. Schaefer son of Mr Mrs John Schaefer West Liberty It has become assistant to the dean of the college of liberal arts at the University of New Hampshire. George Sandrock Ohio Boxboard Co. stores superintendent joined a golf immortals group last Thursday July 27 at Loyal Oak hole in one on No 18 with witnesses including Mayor Baldwin. He used a No 5 iron on a 60 yard uphill drive as the ball vanished near the green.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Janet Garner of two miles north of Rittman at home Wednesday night August 2. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Harrison of Ganyard Street in Wadesworth hospital Wednesday night. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Tucker of Main Street on Friday July 2.
Amid wartime measures 175 girls have signed up for Victory Farm work and adult volunteers in cities are urged to aid after work hours. Wayne SEC reports last year farm labor relied on this group. a broad recruiting drive, with manufacturers and retailers, promotes healthful outdoor activity and increases food production. Plans are underway to assist with fall harvesting.
