Young Seville twin dies in Italy in World War II
Pvt Calvin J Nieman 19 of Seville was killed in action in Italy. He enlisted October 7, 1943, trained at Fort Hayes and Camp Blanding, served as a machine gunner, left overseas March 19, served four months and nine days. He was the youngest Nieman, twin to Alvin, and survived by parents Henry and Mrs Nieman and siblings Irene Eugene Ray Charles Margaret.

He trained at Fort Leonard Wood and serves as a messenger. his unit was among first overseas, relieved Guadalcanal Marines, and shares a Presidential Unit Citation. European Theater engineers adapted to D-Day as hotel service for troops, organizing food, beds, sanitation and living quarters while massed for takeoff. They handled waterproofing, firefighting, water supply, stores, and emergency tasks, then cleaned camps for new occupants and disposed of excess clothing stocks.
